Hey, I was wondering if any one can direct me to a thread that analysis the specs of a diamond. Like what each category means, and what are good ranges for all these percents. Thanks!!

Hello!

Are you talking about a particular shape of diamond - eg Round Brilliant, Asscher, Princess etc?

THANKS! FOR THE QUICK RESPONSES, IM INTERESTED IN ROUND CUT, THIS WEBSITE IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED THANKS!

For rounds, here is the recommendation:
table 54-57%
depth 60-62%
crown angle 34-35
pavilion angle 40.7 to 41
polish and symmetry should be at least very good to excellent

It should pass the HCA test with flying colours.

You can use this tool to weed out less well cut Round Brilliant diamonds:

https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp

Aim for a score of less than two. Anything under two is worth considering. Lower isn''t necessarily better.. most people prefer diamonds that score between 1 and 2.

Don''t use the HCA cut advsor to *choose* a diamond. It is an elimination tool, not a selection tool.

Here''s some awesome information on diamonds:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/4Cs/

If you work your way through that lot you''ll know more than 99%* of people buying diamonds!!

Ditto, also some feel a good range for pavilion angles are 40.6 to 41 degrees, and a little more depth over 62% can still be fine, if the rest of the proportions are in a good range.

To make finding well cut diamonds much easier, use the search by cut tool at the top of the page, punch in your specs and this should bring up good diamonds for you to consider, AGS0 and GIA Excellent cut grade.
