. I''m not even sure what to do! I called ebay and they told me to conact the seller. I sent an email rather than called, because I wanted to leave a paper trail. MAYBE they dropped it out while packaging or something, but I am UPSET. It wasn''t a HIGH ticket item, but it''s still MY money. Any advice?

OH NO

. I have no advice for you, but I REALLY hope you are able to settle the matter soon with the Ebay seller. Either get the diamond or your money back!

How was it shipped? Maybe you should also contact the shipping company.

Good luck, I hope you''re able to get this sorted out. How frustrating!

OK, I don''t know HOW that got to be my title! It was supposed to say "Ebay scam".

Anyway, I got an immediate response from the seller basically telling me it''s "not my problem" and that her reponsibility "ends once the package ships" since it''s insured. There was absolutely NO sign of tampering anywhere. no retaping, no "strange cuts" nothing. There is no way in hell something got out of this envelope. It was obviously never in there. The messed up part is the seller is a POWER seller, with 100% feedback and almost a full 5 stars...which is I why I felt comfortable buying. I would have thought they would have been more accomodating, or at least offered to look. SHe just stated she was "positive it was in there" and that I "must have lost it!"??!!!!!

Since it was obvious she didn''t care, I went to file a grievance via paypal, and ebay popped up telling me to call them, rather than file. So I called them, explained the situation again (I called the hotline when I first opened the package) and they agreed to refund my paypal! THey didn''t even want copies of the emails the seller sent me or anything. Isn''t that a little bizzare? It was in fact a legitimate number because it''s the same one you get from the site.. I am grateful for the refund, but it just seemed a bit odd they didn''t want my correspondence (regular e-mail and not through their messaging system). She also encouraged me to feel confident to leave "appropriate feedback".

i''m really sorry, sizzle - that sucks

Wow, that is beyond bizarre! At least you got your money back. . .it could have turned out much worse.

If the seller has insurance, the seller should be willing to help you file a claim. I''ve had something damaged in the post before and the seller was more than helpful in contact the post office, and getting the money back through them. It is the seller''s problem, she has the insurance paperwork.

I hate ebay lately because it is so buyer friendly that it makes it hard to be a seller. You can easily be without the item and money as a seller. But this seller was stupid! I''m glad that you were refunded your money! I would suggest keeping all the emails and information for a few months in case there are any issues with the seller.

AFTER Ebay gave the claim, the seller is now contacting me saying "Oh well you could take it in for insurance". The BUYER cannot file an insurance claim, only the person who bought and paid for it! You can''t just say " I sent it and now I''m done!". I sometimes sell on ebay, but this whole experience is rubbing me wrong. I also have another transaction pending, but that spot has a brick and mortar that I have visited in the past so I feel better. These are probably going to be my LAST ebay purchases and I''m not too keen with selling either due to it being WAY to easy for people to cry foul!

I think thats awful! I''m really glad you got your refund though. What are you going to say in your feedback?

I'm gald to hear you got your money back... but why in the world did she send a diamond in an ENVELOPE??? Was the diamond supposed to be in a smaller package inside the envelope or just wrapped in tissue paper?

If they hadn't given your money back I would have filed the grievance under negligence by the seller. Part of your job as an ebay seller is to make sure things are package appropriately for the item. To me, an envelope is NOT proper for a diamond.

Wow. I''d be really miffed! I''m glad you got your money back though. I''d definitely leave that in the feedback!

I hate people like that.

I would prompty reply that she could have just sent the ring and saved everyone all the aggravation. I cannot get over her telling you just "file the insurance"...why should you have to do that when a fraudulant purchase can be easily solved via e-bay?

I would absolutely leave her a very scathing comment...no holds barred.

I hope the refund comes through asap.

What a strange set of events - esp. e-bay refunding without hassle. Strange but great for you.

Yeah for happy endings.
