I currently have a 1.26 CT asscher cut set in a X-prong mounting similar to the D-Vatche setting. I am getting ready to have my wedding ring custom made by whiteflash and am having a hard time deciding on the size of the diamonds I should put in the wedding band. The premise for the band is similar to one I found on Blue Nile in that is it is a semi-bezel setting. The difference is that I plan on having the band curve slightly to fit my engagement ring perfectly and to have the band made to more closely match the style of the engagement ring.. I don't want my wedding band to overshadow my engagement ring diamond. The wedding band is a five stone ring although I have considered changing it to a seven stone. I do want the band to be comfortable because I work a lot with my hands and am concerned te seven stone will curve too far around my finger. . At this point I am debating between a total weght of 1 ct. vs. 1.25 ct The stones will be Asscher cut which I know will make them a litle bit smaller that equivalent carat weight rounds. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I will try to post pics when I get home from work if I can figure out how to make it work.

What is the width of the two bands?

I honestly would go smaller than that if you don''t want to overshadow your e-ring. I''d go for maybe five 15 point stones at the most (.75) with an e-ring your size. But what size is your finger? That makes a big difference. I have a 7 stone band of almost 11 pointers (round) with a center stone of 1.63. I felt like larger than that would take away from the center stone. And it covers the top of my finger without having stones rubbing between my fingers. Actually, with an x-prong setting, I even like the diamond wedding band to be a little thinner, more as a complement to the e-ring. So you could also go with something like seven 10 pointers. Or you could go with seven 15 pointers if your finger is large enough, and that of course would be about 1 ct.

The width of my e-ring is about 5 mm at the top and I think the 5-stone ring would be approximately 3-4 mm which I agree might be a little thick. I have a 5.75 size ring finger which certainly isn''t tiny but not huge. I have pretty long fingers so I have that in my favor. I am starting to lean a little bit towards smaller size stones and possibly making it a seven stone instead of a 5 stone. are your rings soldered together or does your seven-stone move around a lot? I have fairly sensitive hands and don''t think I want something rubbing in between my fingers if at all possible (hence no eternity band!!)

with those widths, i do the smaller...

No, I wouldn''t solder mine because there might be an occasion where I wanted to wear the diamond band alone without my e-ring. Mine really doen''t spin too much, but now that it is getting cold it is a little more loose, so it might. I also didn''t want the feel of the diamonds between my fingers. I love the feel of the smooth metal on the sides and bottom, actually. But I''d just shift it with my fingers if it did move around. My rings are about 5 1/2 and the 7 stone works well for me. I know asschers face up smaller than rounds, so you can go a little larger than mine which are almost 11 points each. My lunch time is about over, but if you search for my ring thread titled something like "My Good Old Gold solitaire and Memoire band", you can see the proportions of my two rings. There are a few pictures on page 1 and 2. The Memoire band is 3mm wide.

I just saw a nice example of an x-prong setting with a thinner diamond band. They aren''t asschers, but at least they are square stones!

MY final post (I hope!). But I personally really prefer the wedding band to be straight because there are times you might want to wear it alone. I think the one above looks great!

That is a good thought and I think I might see if whiteflash can make it fit without making it curved. Turns out my fiance really likes the look of the 5-stone ring as seen on Blue Nile. I will try to post a photo but I am not sure I can figure it out

Trying to figure out how to attach pictures of my ring but they keep coming out blurry. Hopefully I will figure it out soon or I will just have to take some new pictures

I think I may have figured out how to get the my e-ring pictures to show up. Hope this works

Thought I would bump this back up and see if anyone had any more ideas

I agree with the others to keep the stones a little smaller. I think it''s going to be very thick and uncomfortable if you go too big and the center stone might get lost in all of the bling. Unless...you plan on wearing the two rings on opposite hands, then I would go big. Facets also has some lovely eternity/weddding bands with asschers in them. You might want to check them out.
