Hi All,
I'm a newbie to the board and the world of diamonds. I plan to propose to my girlfriend before the end of the year and need some help on selecting a nice diamond. I've been visiting local jewelers as well as online such as BN, WF, and GOG.
Jewelers tell me you must see the diamond in person to see if it suits your tastes and they each have their branded stones as well. I haven't seen one but they also talk about diamonds with cuts of more than 58 facets that almost sparkle too much looking like its fake. Not sure if I should look into these?
Online vendors say go by the rating specs (AGS or GIA), return policy, and no sales tax but jewelers will not be liable for diamond.
In order of significance: no naked eye inclusions, brilliant colorful sparkles, and no noticeable yellow (whiter the better).
I think 1.5carats is a good size and would like to stay around $7-10k budget for the stone.
I will set it in a Tiffany setting (6 prongs than 4 makes it look larger?
) and have her pick out the ring. Maybe it will be a Tacori, Neil Lane, or Simon G.
Thank you for your replies in advance!
