Hi all,
Over the past 3-4 months I have been looking through the 'show me the ring' forum - some amazing rings!
I plan to make my girlfriend a custom engagement ring. The ring is a surprise so I have had no real input from her (which I've found makes the whole process 10 times as hard!!).
I have set myself a budget of $10000, for the stone and ring. I am hoping I can get the ring made for about $1000, leaving $9000 to purchase a diamond.
I am getting close to purchasing the diamond as I plan to propose in just under a month's time. The questions I have for the experts:
- What is the most common colour diamond for an engagement ring? Could I get away with an H? (I am weighing up an H as it allows me to go for a bigger diamond with better clarity)
- Hypothetically, if I was to have a yellow gold ring made, would this setting affect the colour of the diamond? (i.e. would it be a waste getting an F or a G with a yellow gold setting?)
I'm hoping $9,000 will get me 1.25ct - 1.40ct.
I'd be super grateful for any advice!
