diamond prices lower after the holidays?

hi -
I''ve been looking for a diamond for a while, but took a break over the holidays. Now that I''m back, it seems like prices are slightly lower than last year. Is the holidays? the (likely impending) recession? or (given that the the weak US dollar isn''t helping anything, maybe it''s just me?

I don''t think prices are lower. Most of the stones I have followed for the past year have stayed steady or gone higher in price.
