An indented natural is actually a piece of the diamond''s original skin that was left on after the cutting process. This can aid the cutter in saving a little carat weight. They aren''t usually an issue, they are normally located on the edge of the girdle, you can often find them one opposite each other. You can use the search for more info, some prefer a diamond without them and others see no problem it seems.

It probably has a very small part of the rough diamond near, on or under the girdle.
It was once a sign of a master cutter.

It is also listed as one of the identifyable features should you ever need to prove this diamond is your diamond.

thanks lorelei and gary! (gary you rock - you always reply and i appreciate you taking the time to do so)

sorry - one more question -- would you consider $3180 a good price then for this diamond?

thanks !
