As I''ve been looking at stones online and in person, I''ve got a question. The mounting I''m leaning towards has a two-toned band that is 7 mm wide. The four-prongs come straight out from the band at a 90 degree angle. I''m thinking that I need a stone at least 7 mm in diameter so as not to "lose" it in the setting (I want the stone to be the focal point).
So, my question: the diameter measurements stated on certs, are they measured at the widest portion of the crown?
I swear I saw a picture during my "research" phase, of the measurements being taken about 1/4 of the width. Of course, now that I''m looking to match a stone and setting, I can''t find that info anywhere! I''d appreciate any input.
