What are your expert opinions on this diamond? Round 3.21 carat, color E, VS2 Gia verified triple excellent. Table 58, depth 61.9, crown 35.5, pavilion 40.6. No florescence. Is the crown too steep at 35.5?

a video of the stone in motion would be helpful

The crown is a little high, but the stone doesnt look too bad. It should be a more fiery stone due to the higher crown.
Let us know what you think when you get it.

Thank you! What would be a fair price in the US for such a stone?

up at the top of the this page is "diamond search" where you can list the info from your diamond and do a search for 'comparable' diamond, i.e. size, color, clarity, etc. It will also show the name of vendors offering said diamonds.

I think the price that Ritani had it listed at is great, especially since it appears to be cut quite well and the diamond crystal transparency may be quite high quality (no graining, no clouding, etc).

VS2 is generally a safe grade in terms of being eye-clean. But in stones this size, with crystal as the grade-setting inclusion, and being located in the middle of the table, you will need to satisfy yourself that it is eye-clean enough for you.

Crystals are a good inclusion type in that they tend not to block or scatter much light, so a VS2 with only crystal inclusions is likely to be fully transparent (as @DejaWiz ) mentioned.

Could this crystal occlusion in the middle of the table be creating a “hall of mirrors” in the diamond? Is a “hall of mirrors in a diamond bad and if so, why? Thank you again!

A hall of mirrors is considered a good thing. Inclusions do not create a hall of mirrors. The facets, in a nicely cut stone,
will create numerous virtual facets (which may be likened to a hall of mirrors). If there is an inclusion in the stone, it
will be reflected around the stone, but an inclusion is not considered a hall of mirrors.

Yes, that inclusion on the table is being reflected around the stone.

BTW...hall of mirrors is usually associated with step-cut diamonds (asschers, emerald cuts, etc.) from my observation (and
not rounds).

Hall of mirrors is the optical effect of the way the facets are cut and aligned, causing a mass amount of reflections inside the diamond which is the primary driver for light return and overall optical performance of a diamond...this is coupled with crystal quality/transparency: the higher both the transparency and the light return are, the higher the overall optical performance of the diamond.

The crystal inclusion on this one is tucked down in the pavilion, so I would probably consider this diamond to be an eye clean VS2 with high optical performance.

Thank you so much for this advice!!!

Here is a pic of the 3.21 ct diamond in real life. It’s the smaller one furthest from the knuckle. Any thoughts on either stone from the visual appearance? IMG_1439.jpeg
