Hello,

I've been looking at loose diamonds for the past few weeks and trying to educate myself. It's been an uphill battle and I'm still not confident I have enough knowledge to make a purchase. It was recommended I post here for some advice. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some honest input or advice I would truly appreciate it.

GIA Round 1.5 GSI1 (5176260948) $10,300

Cutlet: none
Medium to slightly thick faceted 3.5%

AGA/NAJA

I was told the inclusion are not visible to the naked eye but I will not be able to view the diamond until I receive it. In your expert opinions is this a diamond I should consider pursuing taking into account the information provided.

Thanks you for your time,

Billy

Any images (Idealscope or ASET) would be helpful. The pavilion angle seems a bit deep in proportion to the crown angle. Have you versed yourself on fluorescence? Some like it and some don't, depends on the color grade. Just be aware of it as you're considering these. I think you're on the right track, but for that price there's no reason to not consider mostly GIA "ex/ex/ex" or AGS0 stones, if you're buying blindly online. An AGS0 cut grade takes a lot of the guesswork for you.

Thank you,

No images. I like the strong blue. Do you have any recommendations for online retailers?

PS folks usually agree that the top retailers include (but aren't necessarily limited to) Good Old Gold, Whiteflash, James Allen, Brian Gavin, and High Performance Diamonds, among others!

I would definitely not buy a diamond with those proportions blind. Also, a G is probably overkill unless you are really colour sensitive.

Finally, remember that 'eye clean' means eye clean from an arm's length away. That may not be sufficiently clean for a 1.5 ct stone.

I agree with the others that this stone is too risky to consider without an idealscope image. I don't go over 41 for a pav angle when the crown angle is 35. I have bought from both Good Old Gold and WhiteFlash, and both offer ideal cut stones and all the evidence you need to be certain!
