I am looking at some diamonds, but they have EGL certification. Is this a poor choice? Should I look at diamonds w/GIA cert instead?
1. 0.93 SI1 color G H&A T 57% $4400.
2. 1.01 SI2 color H, ideal cut for $5400. No other specs, but I can get them.
3. 0.70 SI1 color D, H&A 5.72 X 5.64 X 3.48 D 61.3% T 57%, girdle medium $4295.
I have seen all of these in person, they are all eye clean. The H&A diamonds have lots of fire, but the 0.93 under the H&A scope was not a perfect design. I did not look at the 0.7 under the H&A scope. the gemologist at the store w/the 0.93 stone said that she is GIA certified. The gemologist at the store w/the 0.70 stone said he picks his own stones out personally by going overseas several times a year so he can select the cream of the crop. I am not a gemologist, but have studied info on pricescope and obviously want to make a wise diamond selection! Thanks.

yes,GIA or AGS... ;))

I personally would feel more comfortable with an AGS or GIA cert. That's not to say that the others aren't beautiful stones; the beauty isn't in the piece of paper that the cert is printed on. The beauty is still in the stone but the piece of mind from a more reputable lab in terms of what they are grading that you are buying is well worth it IMO.

Thanks for the input. The jeweler is going to get me more diamonds to look at that are GIA certified.

These stones seem to be overpriced too me. I checked the PS search engine...use the Advanced search and uncheck GIA and
AGS Labs.

1. $3k to $4400 (high end)
2. $2200 to $5500 at the high end but mostly in the $2Kish to $3Kish price range
3. ranged from $1490-one at $4k, none were designated H&A but that shouldnt make that much of a price difference
most were in the teens and in the $2k range
