hi all-

this forum was essential to me picking out the world's greatest engagement ring a year ago. now i'm back seeing advice and opinion on the wedding gift i'm planning on buying my beautiful bride.

my budget is $2,500.

here are the options for the diamonds in either a 3 or 4 prong platinum setting.

can you let me know which pair you like best. or do you have any other suggestions?

many many thanks!

Are you dead set on studs? JbEG has a great pair of art deco earrings on sale for $1995, but they are chadneliers...gorgeous though!

I think the pairs you selected are really nice; however since studs will never be looked at as closely as a ring I think you should drop down in color and clarity and get a bigger set. I would still place emphasis on cut since a "dead" pair of studs is no fun, but I think SI1 or SI2 would be an acceptable clarity and would shoot for a lower color maybe H or I. Just my 2 cents :-)

I like this pair

maybe this one

Did you end up buying a 2+ ct. H color engagement ring? If so, I would search for H or I color earrings. I wouldn't go higher in color for the earrings than the engagement ring. My diamond ring is G color and my studs are H color. (But I do get VS2 even for earrings.)

The other issue is, if she has a 2+ carat engagement ring, about 1 carat per ear (or just under) is a good goal for her future studs. That is why I would only consider buying studs from somewhere like WhiteFlash where you have an upgrade policy.

These are great choices and can be upgraded! Not only that, they are very top cut quality! I didn't see any at WF with the specs you need at the moment. I was going to recommend the H stones, but honestly, the G's don't cost that much more. The only other thing I will mention is that I have used the white gold earring settings up until now when I am getting what I hope will be my final pair in platinum. You basically only get a little scrap value for used settings, so unless she is allergic to white gold, I would go with white gold until she has her final pair.

I agree with DS about doing white gold for the settings to save some on the cost (unless she is allergic of course). I would also go for the G VS2 pair! I love my BGD studs and I highly recommend them.
