Found this which seems to offer information about the above. Someone was asking in a post recently
about diamonds found on the search list with the same grades being $2000 difference. Don't know if this is
the reason as that post posted many reasons it could be.

Just thought some may be interested in this and would like to hear any views from jewellers or appraisers or dealers etc.?

Re: Diamond Clarity Scale within the Scale + Subjective Grad

Diamonds tend to be priced for what they are, which is not necessarily what the report says. Put another way, the price comes from the report but then it gets modified by off-cert attributes to render it saleable.

Both clarity and color are ranges. If they think it's on the high end they'll try to get more. If they think they got lucky or it's at the bottom they probably won't mention it.

Cut, especially for non-rounds, is a wide open field but even with rounds it’s a big range. Popular ranges of proportions tend to sell for more than unpopular ones.

Some dealers (and some of their suppliers) offer more value-add than others. Call it markup if you wish but the reality is that some dealers are happy to work on a 5% margin while others won’t take a deal for less than, say, 15%.

Many of the items in the database here are ‘virtual’ listings. That means the dealer has a datafeed from some supplier, they apply a markup, and then advertise it. Effectively, the price is being set by the supplier, not the seller you see, and they have all of the same issues as everyone else. Some are eager to move things, sometimes they’re holding out for more money, etc. They can ASK whatever they want after all. Getting it may be a different story entirely. The dealers probably don't even know if they have something listed that isn't selling because it's priced out of range.
