Hi everyone,

It is the first time I post in this forum but I have been an assiduous reader for a while now and learned so much from the various posts. So first of all, thanks to all the participants who share their knowledge with newbies like me on this forum.

After searching through the old posts, I couldn't find an answer to my question and thought I would give it a try by starting a new thread. I am trying to find a reliable diamonds broker in Hong Kong. I am sure you know how difficult it can be to negotiate with the right people and be offered competitive prices as an expat in Hong kong so would appreciate any kind of insight / contact details that could help me.

To give a bit more background, I am trying to find a stone of c. 1.5 carat that I would then have set up on a Cartier ring as part of their Bridal Set Up offer.

Many thanks in advance for any kind of help !

there are a lot of GIA graded stones in HK for you to look/see. stick with EX,EX,EX GIA graded stones.

are you looking for a high color and clarity stone?

Hi and thanks for your reply. I am looking for a D or E color and VVS1 and above clarity. However, I would rather avoid paying a premium on the stone for a brand name and find the diamond from a reliable diamond broker.

From what I read in this forum, it is quite difficult to find a trustable diamond broker in HK and I would like to make sure I will not get ripped off given it's a fairly sizeable investment.

Thanks again for your time

Hi Fed

I am in HK and buy from a vendor in Central. I'm actually sourcing a stone through them as well.

I'd be happy to provide you with their contact. But i'm not certain if i'm allowed to mention non PS vendors in this forum...

Hi GreenBling,

I am not sure either whether this would breach the forum rules. Is there any private messaging option on PS ? Would be really helpful to have a contact as a starting point.

Thanks again.

It's fine to mention non PS approved vendors.

cut is the most important C. the stones my friend brought back from HK are cut steep/deep,so be careful!!.

@Fed_Tang, you can try ELS diamonds on Stanley street, Central. Call Agnes Kan to book appointment. Her nr is 93805390 [email protected]

You may not really need to find a broker in Hong Kong, with the internet. You can actually shop online and get alot of the same service you would have in person. I think also there is no duty in Hong Kong as well right?

Getting a diamond via the internet is an option. There are sellers on Pricescope who sell internationally. There are also successful internet sellers in HK and China but the process is different: Shoppers use basic grading report data to narrow the field of diamonds to a handful, then go to an "Experience Store" in their city to view and make a selection.

If you're looking for a good in-person experience David Nazer is highly regarded in Hong Kong. He's one of the principals at Haywards of HK on Hollywood Road. Neither I nor my company have any affiliation with him but I know him by reputation.
