Diamond Breaking

I''ve been told by jewellers that diamonds can break and crack. How easy is it to crack a diamond?

If you bang an engagement ring against a wall or something when running???
or if you drop a loose stone on concrete???

obviously if you got a hammer you could smash a little diamond...but just curious actually how easy it is to do...

You really need to be unlucky - and 96.3% of damage is at the girdle.
Hit an exposed girdle and you will be lucky not to chip the diamond
