We would greatly appreciate some advice on what constitutes a good diamond. We understand the color and clarity for the most part. Neither one of us really understands the Proportions section of the GIA report or should I say what proportions equal a good diamond with a lot of brillance. Also, Fluorescence...is it a good thing or bad thing and what does it add to a diamond? Also, we aren''t clear on how imperfections such as a feather in this case, effect the brilliance of the stone.

We are looking at Princess, Round, and Rectangular cuts. Thank you.

I am fairly new here but what helped me immensely (especially to learn about cut) was to read the "Advanced Tutorial" here at Pricescope. It''s under the "knowledge" tab at the top of this page.

goodoldgold.com and niceice.com also have tons of helpful info.

GL with your quest!
