Hi everyone,

I have been lurking here for a while and I want to say that I am amazed at everyone''s knowledge. I am so happy I found this website. Reading all of the posts and other information has made ring shopping a bit less daunting.

I am hoping that all of you could give me some advice on this stone. Unfortunately, I do not have any other information besides what is listed on the GIA certificate.

Measurements: 6.22 - 6.25 x 3.83 mm
Carat Weight: 0.90 carat
Color Grade: G
Clarity Grade: SI1
Depth: 61.4%
Table: 56%
Crown Angle: 34.5°
Crown Height: 15.0%
Pavilion Angle: 41.0°
Pavilion Depth: 43.5%
Star length: 60%
Lower Half: 75%
Girdle: Thin to Medium, Faceted (3.0%)
Culet: None
Cut Grade: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Medium Yellow
Comments: Clarity grade is based on clouds that are not shown.
Price: $4000

Should my boyfriend and I be concerned about the fluorescence and if not, do you think the price is reasonable? The setting it will go into will probably be white gold. Any help is appreciated!

Numbers look good, but I think it is not discounted enough given the Med Yellow Fluor. That fluor could result in the stone looking more colored than what a near colorless G should look like in the presence of UV light source.

For Example, a similar size stone GOG only cost 4k.

Welcome eyl!

Not really possible to say how much a diamond should be discounted for yellow fluorescence, that is the domain of the experts so hard to judge pricing with this. Personally I would pass because of the yellow fluorescence, even if it doesn't have much of an effect on the diamond ( and you would need an independant appraiser to judge that) it would be extremely difficult to trade or resell this diamond at a later stage. Is the diamond online or with a store jeweller?

If you want to pursue it, then an Idealscope image is needed for that angle combo.

Ditto.

The diamond is with a store jeweler. I would buy a diamond from one of the vendors listed here but my boyfriend is not comfortable with the idea of buying one online. Thank you for the responses :) I'll keep looking and hopefully something will turn up.

No problem, we can still help even if you prefer to buy from a store, just post the info on the next ones you find the same as you did above and we can take a look for you
