I''d love to know more about you.

Ooh,
1.gif
thanks for asking! I''m happy to share. Where would you like me to start?

Tell us everything DB. How do you spend your free time?? What is your favorite food, etc.

Everything? Wow, that could take a while! I'm not sure you want me to post my tedious bio, LOL! [unless you need to read something to put you to sleep].

Let's see, free time. I guess all of my time is free time since I can't tell where my "work" stops and free time begins. I spend most of my day building relationships and coaching people in the quest of working with them to build their passive income streams through internet marketing. I also travel and speak to groups [motivational and vision type stuff]. I also get interviewed a lot and featured in Success type magazines. I wind up at a lot of social events in various locations. I spend a lot of time chit chatting on the phone with my people - new and old and in the US and various countries - mostly in Europe and the far east.

As far as recreational activities go . . . skiing, sailing, shooting [the 3 S's? LOL!]. I hang by the pool a lot [often on the phone]. I like long walks [That is when I get most of my AHA moments - aside from the shower]. I go to the gym - ideally every other day to do strength training. I like to go to wine tastings [and wine tasting dinners], art gallery openings. I also travel quite a bit but when I do I am also visiting my people. I tend to travel to places where I have friends or colleagues. I like to collect stuff - art, silver, jewelry and gems - am starting on real estate, need to start on cars . . . Oh, and I read a lot too. I have quite the library.

I get up "whenever" [unless I have to catch a plane or something] and I stay up until I am finished doing what I want to do.

As far as food goes . . . my favorite food is wine [that's a fruit, right?]. I'll eat pretty much anything that is well prepared. I love a good steak, sushi, Indian food, northern Italian food - it pretty much depends on the circumstances. Generally, I prefer quality to quantity.

My favorite stones are diamonds and sapphires [although I keep winding up with new emeralds - go figure!]

I love to get dressed up in evening gowns and the like but I spend most of my days in sweats and barefoot without makeup [hence my aversion to video phones].

Wow! You have such a glamorous lifestyle! I loved reading about your shopping excursion in NYC a while back. You have a great way with words.
I'd love to see pictures of your wardrobe favorites if you are comfortable taking pictures of things in your closet.
Can you describe your house?
What about siblings? Childhood? Family? I think you have a daughter, right?

Yes, I have a daughter [from my first marriage] who will be a senior at Syracuse this fall. My how time flies! She is an Engineering major.

Other family . . . I am remarried to a software entrepreneur. We met when I was hired to run a company he had founded. We have been together over 10 years.

I have 3 siblings [I am the oldest]. My brother - 2nd oldest - lives in horse country in Florida, my youngest sister is in the Boston area and my middle sister lives up north in NH and she just got remarried - TO A 77 YEAR OLD!!! I was going to start a thread about that. And no, he is not independently wealthy! LOL!

Both my parents are still around and traveling the world as they always have. They are turning 83 next week.

When my parents immigrated to the US as scientists in the 1950's I was left as an infant in Italy in the care of my maternal grandparents. After numerous legal machinations at the highest levels, I was eventually granted a visa and later immigrated to the US. My siblings were all born in the US.

I grew up in an upper middle class situation in a western suburb of Boston, went to college at 16, graduated with a BA in math at 18, continued on to my MS in math at 20 and was abdPhD [partial differential equations and fluid mechanics] at 21. I later did my MBA with specialization in Strategic Planning and International business. I can elaborate if anybody is interested.

I am a Certified Pistol Instructor, Tactical Range Officer, Ski Instructor, and Pyrotechnician. I have also sailed at the World Championship level.

As far as a glamorous lifestyle goes . . . I'm not so sure it is all that glamorous! LOL! [maybe the not getting up until I wake up part is
9.gif
]. I do get the opportunity to go to interesting places, hang around with interesting people, and do interesting things but most of the time I'm hanging around at home, in sweats or the equivalent, talking on the phone or conversing on the net. LOL! And, trust me, you don't want to see what I'm looking like now!
9.gif

House, let's see . . . I should say that we are expecting to move soon to a much larger place. This house is the one I bought after I got divorced [and lost basically everything - mid 7 figures' worth - thanks to my then lawyer and ex - story for another time - I may write a book about it] and I needed to stay close enough to the ex since DD was 9 or so. We will keep this place and rent it out [asset accumulation strategy]. This place is a small colonial [about 2000 sq. ft.]. It is kinda neoclassically decorated with 2-story foyer, fluted ionic coumns, marble fireplace, crystal chandeliers, etc. I'll see if I can find a couple of pics.

As far as clothes go . . . I have some cool stuff. Cool shoes too. I suppose I could take some pics but I'm not sure I am up for doing modeling of the outfits! If I ask DH to take pics I'm sure he'd think I was nuts! LOL!

Wow. It sounds like you've already done more than what most people can accomplish in several lifetimes.

What advice would you give to someone in their mid-20's, or in their mid-30's?

Most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year yet underestimate what they can accomplish in five or even ten. Don't make these mistakes and you will get to where you want to be. You have plenty of time.

This is exactly what I needed to hear right about now. BTW...GO CUSE! I went there. Is your daughter in a sorority by chance?

As far as the advice is concerend, I really needed to hear that. I work for a large corporation and have been very sucessfull in my opinion. However, I have worked for the same large corporation for 8 years and I''m wondering if it is starting to hold me back. I''ve worked for three different operating companies within this large coporation however that doesn''t seem to be progressing my career.

Blu,

Wow, that is extremely impressive! Every bit of it. Starting with the college part.

Where were you when I was "learning" to ski? Not a fun night. Story coming shortly in my who''s Who thread...

Remind me not to make you mad though!

How cool! When did you graduate? What was your major? No, DD has not joined a sorority. She kinda has a bit of my personality. Not sure the sorority thing would work real well.

I am glad you found the advice useful. I do a lot of personal development coaching with my people. Personal development is also a frequent topic for my talks. There are lots of resources out there. I can direct you to some books and web sites if you like. Let me know.

I find that the one thing that most people do not understand is that if you want to attract wealth, satisfaction, inner peace or anything else that is important to you, you need to grow into the type of person that would have the thing you are looking for. Only then will you be able to attract what you want. Unfortunately, this is something that you really don't understand until you experience it. The first time I heard this I was like: yeah, yeah, yeah - just tell me what I need to do to make my millions! LOL! It was only after I has gotten to where I wanted to be - having grown into the proper person - that I really understood what they were talking about. LOL!

Also, figure out what it is you want and then find and hang around people that already have what you want. By hanging around them, learn from them - what values they have, what their thought processes are, etc. In time, you will become more like them and you will morph into the person you want to become. You can find these people both in person and on line. Books are good too.

You would not have wanted to be around me when you were learning to ski! My ski schools learned pretty quick not to give me beginners - not a good match [What do you mean you don't know how to get up? Pretend you are on the kitchen floor!]. Same thing in my professorial days - give her the advanced courses - she will scare the crap out of the non math and engineering majors! LOL! Other people were much better for that. I'm good for getting people through that last 10% of peak performance that nobody else can figure out! LOL! I look forward to hearing your learning to ski story. If it is anything like what you have already written it should be a real hoot! I wish I could write as well as you!

Funny about the making me mad. I am doing a deal with a company out of Idaho and a Japanese group. In getting to know the group from Idaho [by phone] we got to talking about what would happen if they did not perform. They mentioned DH [who is also a big time firearms instructor] coming after them, but then they realized that I could get them from here with one of my AALCMs [long range advanced air launched cruise missiles]. LOL!

That would work for me actually. After getting left for dead on a blue trail on my first run, I was all alone. Had trouble getting off the lift but by the end of the night, one of the trip leaders found me... skiing (I''ll use that work very loosely) down a black diamond. I hardly call it a black diamond though. Really, a solid blue. I was shopping for skiis the next morning. Huge improvement with them and I was running NASTAR gates the following year. Never took a lesson and I ski everything but bumps now. I went out to Vail to watch the World Championship ski races in 1999 and while taking pictures of the MDH start house before the race, one of the course guys said I could walk up to the wand for a picture. While standing there, he asked me "Want me to give you a countdown?" I was so tempted but the course was closed and I don''t think he was serious. Would have been wild though! I should have at least had him take a picture of me in there!

Later, I was trying to get my picture taken with the WDH winner and her coach wouldn''t allow it. Some other Austrian racer came up to me and said I could get my picture taken with her. I said sure, handed my camera off for a picture. I looked through my program guide later that night and I had my picture taken with Alexandra Meissnitzer - overall WDH champion that year! I was shocked!

I know what you mean with students. I try to tell people that as long as they''re moving, they can turn. Stop and your options are limited. You can always turn uphill to bleed a little speed off. I see a lot of people stuck at about 50%. Just wish they weren''t always right in front of me!

My grandfather was competitive in bullseye matches. I used to have a Kimber Custom that I loved but I just didn''t use it much and eventually sold it.
Note to self: Never, ever make DiamanteBlu OR DH mad! Don''t take ski lessons from her either!

Hi Diamante,
So, last night while I was at work, I had what I think is a great idea. It is probably going to be my 2-3 year plan and it is somewhere along the lines of improving quality of life and health/productivity/lifestyle for companies of 40 people or more. I plan on coming up with a presentation and proposal for my services, but my question is how do I get my foot in the door. As I was talking with my DH about my new idea, all of a sudden, I thought of you! How did you begin with your motivational speaking and life coaching? Did people find you or did you have to offer your services? I imagine that once you started, it gained momentum? Im going to put all my plans in writing today when I have a chance. Personally, I know that when I write things down, they do happen.
I would appreciate any advice you have to give.

What an interesting story you have! How did you get into pyrotechnics and shooting as hobbies? Their not exactly run of the mill!

Treefrog -

Love your learning to ski story and good call on the WDH photo! Often the best that are the most humble.

Unfortunately, most people only get to 50% at anything they do. Skiing is no exception. I can to see a point in doing anything unless you can excel at it - maybe that's just my personality.

When I was learning to ski back in the stone age we got stuck into ski school all day, every day that we skied - a very rigorous one teaching the Austrian technique [Hannes Schneider for those that may remember]. The instructors were slave drivers. The result was that just about every one that went through the program [many hundreds of classes over the years] either made the olympic team, raced professionally or became a ski instructor. It is funny that wherever we may run into each other [be it Deer Valley, Cervinia or wherever] we recognize each other from a distance just by our technique. It is pretty funny, actually. And it has been over 40 years!

I have never shot bullseye but they tell me I'd be good at it. We specialize in the tactical arts and self defense.

I have always liked space ships, rockets, fireworks, etc. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was growing up. I guess aeronautical engineer [aka rocket scientist] is close enough. I specialized in cruise missiles. I guess shooting was a natural extension. I got into it after meeting DH.

You can get your foot in the door a number of ways. You can call the CEO directly [always start at the top] or you can use Social Networking techniques to build relationships with the proper players. I can give you some more thoughts and resources but not right now because I am wiped. [I have been working on an important Japanese deal.]

Do put you goals in writing - that is a critical first stem. Make sure they are believable [to you], specific and have a time line. Visualize and experience yourself having attained them in your mind's eye.

As far as my speaking, etc. goes, people have always come to me. I guess in working with my team the word of what I was doing got out and it continued from there. I had also articulated the goal of speaking in front of large crowds [crazy, I know! LOL!] and getting an enthusiastic response. I guess I visualized it for so long it finally came to be! LOL!

Oh yes! Those were some great days of skiing! Beautiful day, nobody around, and very steep!

Great advice for us younguns DB!! I always find that just thinking "this is what I want to achieve" and keeping it in my head gets me a long way down the road to actually achieving it. Keep churning out those golden nuggets please!!

Do you still live in the US now? Do you spend much time in Italy? Where do you ski? I recently sampled the California mountains, after having spent all my ski-life thus far on the Alps. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised!

What do you shoot? I get out for a clay pigeon shoot most Sundays. Such a satisfying activity!

From your posts you always remind me of my mum. That may the highest compliment I can give - my mum is the best
2.gif

She''s also into shooting, skiing and sailing, amongst about a million other things. Accomplished, successful, seemingly endless energy, the mags love her, one of those gravitational personalities. I love when people tell me I''m like my mum. I hope to look as good as she does at her age!

Is your daughter like you?

Wow DB-What an interesting life!!!
