This thread was started in Diamond Hangout, but I didn''t get any replies. I think because I posted in the wrong area, sorry.

I am also graduating college and would like something to remind me of the hard work I have put it. I don''t like the typical class rings that are offered.

I am thinking either a 3mm flat with rounded edges 14kt rose gold satin finished band with 4 diamonds flush set on point. OR this band https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/class-ring-help-opinions.80981/ with red or pink main stones, rather than the blue sapphires and as a half eternity.

I like rose gold and pink/red stones, but not together. I want it to match my wedding set but not overpower it in any way (wedding set here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/upgrade-pictures.78381/). I have been wanting rose gold for a while and I don''t have any pieces in rose gold. Would wearing platinum on one hand and rose gold on the other look funny?

Any other opinions or suggestions are welcome please

If anyone can photoshop that it would be VERY VERY helpful
Thanks so much in advance!!!!!!!

I was told the diamonds in the 3mm band would be 1.25mm or about 0.06 ctw

Do you think a 3.5mm band would look better?

Thanks again everyone

This is only because I haven''t seen any in person together, and I don''t want to go custom with a combo I haven''t seen IRL. Although on PS pictures they look really pretty.

I think you are getting few responses because the ring you have a link to with sapphire and diamonds just does not seem to be a school ring in any way other than that is what YOU want it to be. That''s fine, but it probably is surprising to people reading the post. You can definitely have diamonds larger than the size mentioned in a 3mm wide band. It is a budget thing, or a design issue with that particular ring.

Pink gold is often used under light pink diamonds today to enhance their "pinkness". It sort of tricks the eye, a bit. You might consider light pinks diamonds on rose gold complimented by near coloress diamonds in white gold or platinum. They don''t need to be large stones to have life and sparkle and might be worn with the wedding jewelry or on the other hand depending on how you feel that particular day.

That''s true, I want it to have that meaning, but no it certainly doesn''t look like a typical class ring. Maybe I should have used a different title to the post, sorry

It''s a design thing for the size of the diamonds, I was told that would be the largest I could go with that size band since they will be flush set. Do you think that even thou it will be flush set I can go bigger? Should I look at another custom jeweler?

Thank you for taking the time to reply!

Sparkles - Last year I purchased a ring for my son who graduates from college in May (YEH!!!!). He picked out a Damascus steel and gold band, and wears it on a middle finger. He hates the standard class ring styles, too.

I mix metals all the time. I often wear my platinum ring on my left hand, and a rose gold ring on my right. I love them all. In fact, a jewelry designer who is making me a pendant for my birthstone suggested mixing metals in the pendant so I could wear it with either a platinum or a yellow gold chain.

Feel free to pick a ring style that you love, then come back and share it with us!

Cool thanks! I think there are a lot of people who would prefer another ring style rather than the class ring, seems like it anyway, maybe just on PS.

I don''t know why but I feel like mixing with platinum and any gold color is okay. But not white gold and yellow gold unless I am wearing something two-tone to bring them together LOL. I am weird. I was wondering what others felt about it.....opinions?

I will definately share, once I have it finished I will give it a photoshoot

. Okay so I think I am going to go with the rose gold. But for design details....

Should I add white gold/platinum?

Should I have it be 3mm or 3.5mm? I am planning on wearing it as a RHR. I am not planning on stacking it with my wedding set, but possibly other bands in the future.

I was thinking 4 diamonds, one to symbolize each year in school (although total I have been in college for 6.5 years)

Diamonds up to 2.5mm probably could be "flush set" in a 3mm wide ring. You must keep in mind the strength of metal needs to be maintained so the ring does not bend in use. Look at the thin nature of the walls of your own channel set band. The diamonds are over 3/4 of the width of the total ring.

These would be kite set thou, does that make a difference since point to point is longer than side to side?

How would I maintain the strength of the metal? I haven''t specified a thickness of the ring yet, would that make a difference? What do you recommend?

Can someone please change the title of this post to "Designing a graduation ring and need help/opinions"? I think that would be a more clear title to the post

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I''m wondering if what I want is realistic.... seems like the diamonds are going to have to be fairly small. I wonder if it would even be (dare I say it)..."worth it" to put in. I was just going to do 4..... I don''t know

They recommended I go to a 4mm band and set 2mm stones, but I really wanted a band that wasn''t quite that wide.

Do you think white gold with rubies would be better than pink gold with diamonds? Assuming they were of the same design....
