Bought this diamond from BGD
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/diamond-detail/?product_id=AGS-7893805

I am looking at getting it set in a 3 stone setting - either their one with pear side stones or their trellis with cushion sides (getting a price quote for 0.30 matching cushions).

If I have some money left over - should I use it to reset my asscher or to get some ideal cut diamond studs (size dependant on money left in my budget)?

I have studs now, but they are not ideal cut and I''d really like some ideal cut BGD sparklers. Could probably sell these (0.50 ctw non certed but decent stones as they came from whiteflash back in the day) if I get new ones.

The asscher is in a setting I hate and I''ve been wanting to change it forever but not sure how much I''ll wear it having just gotten an awesome 3 stone ring from BGD.

Decisions..........

Thoughts?

My opinion is to get the earrings.

I''d get the earrings since you''ll probably wear them more.

Could you send your asscher to Sally or someone for a not super expensive, but gorgeous new asscher setting?

Who is Sally??

heart of water, she''s a vendor on etsy who does beautiful settings.

Her lotus settings are amazing for round tones, and the elixer and pillbox styles are gorgeous for square stones like asschers (though for me, I would probably have it set lower:-) Also, she has a gorgeous asscher pillbox bezel pendant that is to die for:-)

another vendors people love is julia kay taylor: http://juliakaytaylor.com/

and Lord of Gem Rings on ebay (LOGR): http://shop.ebay.com/lord_of_gem_rings/m.html?_trkparms=65%253A1%257C66%253A1%257C39%253A1&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_pgn=2

I''ll be odd and say I would reset the asscher. Honestly if you have studs that are decent, I don''t see the point of getting ideal cuts. This may not make sense, but I don''t see the point in spending more for an ideal cut with diamond studs. I have three pairs and 1 pair is ideal cut, but I prefer the way the non ideals look from afar if that makes sense. No one will get close enough to really see a difference. But again that is my opinion on that.

Thanks! - I am leaning toward getting the studs -- got some quotes from BGD
0.40 K VS2''s or 0.30 I SI''s? Not sure how noticable the size difference would be.

I would reset the asscher and save up enough money to some day buy bigger BGD stones (Are you going to have enough money
left over to buy significanly larger BGD stones than what you have now?) Do you have a diamond pendant? Maybe you could put the
asscher in a pendant. I just hate to see a nice stone setting around and not being worn.

BIG studs are unlikely to ever happen (this is probably my last big jewelry purchase again for some time) and honestly I''m pretty petite so I don''t think I''d ever want more than 0.80 - 1.0 ctw studs.

I have two diamond pendants - a princess cut that was from a zales e-ring I had before Pricescope and an 0.60 Eightstar so I don''t really need another one.

I am leaning toward the studs I think because the ones I have are just OK. They are probably a decent upscale mall store quality (they are not ACA or anything - they were a "special" whiteflash had going around Mother''s day one year I think). They are pretty white and clear but not nearly as sparkly as my H&A stones that I have. I have two very little 0.15 ACA stones in a ring and these are fireballs compared to my studs even though the studs are bigger. I think I''d almost rather get smaller H&A BGD studs if that is all my budget allows.

I returned the Tiffany Victoria ring that I recently purchased because I think I can get more for my money online so my total budget for these projects is around $4,000.
