Decision time! S. Kirsch rings- calling Charmypoo!

It's decision time and I am torn between two styles. Charmpoo's ring (Leon) is my inspiration. S. Kirsch sent me photos of the split shank ring I was initially going to make: I love the non cathedral look, also making two bands (above & below)

This is another view -I would make the band wider (2mm)

but now he threw a curve ball and sent me another ring to look at. (can't seem to copy photo):

Charmypoo's ring that I love:

My concern with the first ring is that it seems quite delicate and open (stone). The second ring (timeless luxury link) he sent seems to have more durability. I think it's quite similar to Charmpoo's ring. (Don't know what the protocol is of posting someones ring-hope it's okay).I will be making two wedding bands (above & below) that do not need to sit flush. Probably leaning towards 2mm (6 1/2 ring). I have always loved the basket around the stone and that seems to also give it more durability. Maybe ring #1 just needs the basket??
They both are beautiful. Ring #1 grabbed my attention because it didn't have the cathedral look, but now Ring #2 (or Charmypoo's) cathedral look is appealing to me. Such confusion! One final question... single or double prongs??? (2.5 round stone).

I could definitely use some guidance, thoughts, likes/dislikes, comments? Please!

WOW! Tough decision.

I love ring #2 (the first image), but not as crazy about the side view. Overall, I like charmypoo's ring best. :appl:

I like Charmy's but I would want the shank to go all the way around under the head of the ring.

Charmy's ring is gorgeous but I'm liking the first ring better (I usually prefer non-cathedral settings though). And I agree with DS that I would want the shank to go under the head of the ring. Maybe you could incorporate details from both rings into yours?

My fav is the first one. Delicate, feminine... really beautiful!

You can't go wrong w/ either--they're both beautiful!

Both are beautiful, but I like the first one best.

I prefer the non cathedral setting. I would do double prongs.....

I like the first ring more (oops ... am I allowed to offend my own ring?). I also love double prongs but it all depends on the design.

When designing an e-ring ... I always think about the full set at the end of the day. If I am always going to wear my e-ring with my w-band (which is the case for me), I designed it as a pair but also thought about how it would look stand alone. Another thing is that I wouldn't go too dainty for an e-ring for safety reason. My e-ring is actually more chunky than some of my other rings but no one will ever say that because it is still so dainty in real life. It is really secure - Leon works magic.

I am a huge split shank lover and own a bunch of split shank rings. Here is another platinum ring I own with a bit of a different design. The jeweler store that set a stone in the setting for me went ga ga  over this setting. This is a non-cathedral ring and I must say in real life ... I prefer the cathedral ring for an e-ring. With my e-ring cathedral setting, it flows a lot better and looks more like an integrated design versus a diamond sitting on a shank. I have multiple non-cathedral split shank settings and another split shank cathedral into a halo. I feel the same way when comparing all of them. The split just looks better when going into the diamond and sloping upwards. These are things you can't really tell in a photo but more evident in real life.

Just to throw another idea out there. Here is my new ring with an OEC. It isn't a traditional split shank but split by marquis. Steven will know this ring well as he worked on it for me. I don't have a thread yet as I haven't had the chance to take proper pics. Pardon the crappy blackberry pictures.

I also have another funky split shank in the works but you won't like that one as it is more of an antique look.

A long time ago, I said Leon does better double prongs than SK. I just have to say I will take that back because SK did a fantastic job on my prongs. It is my favorite elements of the new ring. They are perfection to me - all 4 sets are so well matched. Sorry for the tiny small pic ... only one I have.

The 1st one is incredible and so elegant; the others are gorgeous too!
