They may have to operate somewhat indirectly in the US due to legal actions which have been taken against them...they won''t want to expose their assets.

Their Tokyo store has been said to be unimpressive - high prices, uneducated staff.

This would be my guess -- beautiful displays and stores, beautiful, but uneducated sales people, very high prices..... just an extension of their current marketing campaign . It will be interesting to see what quality their goods are. I would think they would go the Tiffany approach and find designers to do some custom pieces for them in volume. As far as stone qualities go, it will be interesting to see if they stay high end or sell the whole spectrum.

honestly if those ugly ''right hand rings'' they came out with in the initial wave of advertisements last year are anything like what they will carry in their stores...i will not be missing much by not shopping there.
