Hi, my diamond is DCLA graded.

I''m trying to understand what it''s grading means, how it translates to grading by other labs.

Are these within similar ranges from other labs?

1. Roundness 1.6% = VG

Is 5.68 - 5.77 x 3.54mm really very good in terms of roundness?

2. Girdle Thickness 3.5% = VG?

3. Cutlet 0.7% = Very Small

4. My stone also has a VG Proportion Grade? What does that mean?

DCLA grade to IDC (International Diamond Council) rules. These are the same rules as HRD. Their highest grade is Very Good and the lowest grade is Unusual.

If you post all the info we can tell you more.

DCLA are a very good lab. (I have a vested interest, but I have sold equipment to all the labs in Australia, so have no bias).

Hi Garry,

I guess I already know quite a bit about my diamond. Thanks to HCA and your reply to a post i made earlier. I think you said it may fall into current AGS0 but perhaps not so in the future.

My question is whether one could reasonably rely on DCLA's gradings of "Very Good" to select a stone.

How strict is DCLA to give a VG in proportion?

Would another lab consider a girdle as "medium" and grade it "very good"
when it was 3.5%?

Or what about roundness: 1.6% being "very good"

These are the dimensions

0.718 Carats
F, SI1
Diameter 5.72
Depth 3.54 or 61.9%
Crown angle 35.5
Pavilion angle 40.9
Table 3.28
Cutlet 0.7
Girdle 3.5%

HCA of 2.8

btw, I'm eagerly awaiting my ideal-scope kit to arrive!

DCLA measure girdle at the thicker part. That is medium to slightly thick

Very nice.

AGS are going to do this too - so there will be no more warped diamonds.

There should be a little leakage.
