Hello, in a previous post, someone had mentioned that Oxi Clean could potentially be harmful to diamond, gold and platinum jewelery due to sodium percarbonate. Is this true of "oxi" dishsoap as well? I wash my dishes with Dawn Oxi, and cannot find any of the ingredients on the label. Sometimes I have my rings on when doing the dishes, and am very concerned now that this has harmed them in some way? Please help!

Not a chance Lucy. There is nothing you can put your hand into, or eat off, that can affect a diamond or a precious metal esp. gold or plat.

Some gold alloys and gold solders have metals in them that can tarnish. You would have a hard time finding the chemical powerful enough to affect a diamond and there is no way you could put your hand in it...

What is sodium precarbonate? I use sodium bicarbonate to clean jewellery.

The worst that will happen if you wash the dishes with your rings on is you will ding or scratch them under the suds, plus you will get a soapy build up over time so it''s not a good idea,

thanks much to both of you for your responses!

You can get an ingredients list for pretty much any manufacturers product by asking for a MSDS report. They are required to make this available to all US consumers. Most major manufacturers will post it on their websites because it''s the easiest way to deal wit these requests.
