David S. Diamond in NYC Diamond District

Hi All,

Anyone have experience with David S. Diamond in the NYC diamond district? Reputable? Quality of his stones? Good or bad experiences?

No first-hand experience, but they've been in business for years. David S. stands for David So, who developed the Solasfera cut:

In addition to the many positive reviews on, e.g., Yelp, PSers have had good experiences there thru the years (enclose David S. in quote marks -- "David S." -- when you use the Search function here ); the one complaint made by a PSer some years ago was that they did not honor the upgrade policy in place at the time the PSer made the original purchase.

bumping this up! Has anyone gone recently, or better yet as anyone made a purchase recently? we are making a trip into NYC and are considering making an appointment

If you can tell the community specifically what you are looking for perhaps they can recommend a vendor in NYC and make your trip to the Diamond District more productive.

Go to ID Jewelry if you are going to the diamond district. They have many customers on this forum who have bought through them for great cut stones and good prices. But you need to call in advance and make an appointment, and tell them what you're looking for. Emphasize excellent cut to Pricescope standards. They will have to pick up stones for you to look at, so that's why you call in advance. No one is going to have a good selection of exactly what you want on hand, usually. All the DD vendors can call in the same stones, so there's no reason to go to multiple ones. I'd work with one and only move on to another if the first one can't find what you want.
