Hey everyone! I recently posted about my decision regarding a ring style, reached out to DK, and he’s already gotten a CAD back to me.

Can I get some guidance from the pros out there? I originally sent this as my inspiration, and requested the band be a little thicker for durability, and only one wrap under the shoulder detail as opposed to two.

It will have a 1ct round brilliant center stone and I’ve requested lab diamonds in the setting and 10k yellow gold so it’s less “yellow” and also more durable. It will have milgrain around the center bezel, and also on the halo. I can’t decide if I want any on the shoulders.

Any and all opinions are welcome!!!

Let me know what you think!

I love it:kiss2:. I think it looks a lot like your inspiration ring. Are you going to wear it with a band or a stand alone ring?

Thanks! I think I’m gonna have him reduce the stones in the halo so it’s not competing with the center stone as much. It’s nearly 15mm across and 7mm high. That’s a lot of presence! Hoping he can modify the basket too so it’s got a lower profile, continue the tri-wire shank past the shoulders and all the way up to the basket, and see if he can tighten the airline slightly. I know they say go big or go home but I think it’s a little TOO big. If that’s possible. Haha!

I didn’t even answer your question in my first response. I am so sorry! I’ll wear a band with it and rock the gap. I’d love a pave or channel set band but worry about damaging either ring. I may go with a plain gold band but not sure. Either way, it won’t be curved or custom made to fit the ring.

I put milgrain down the shoulders on my ring, as well as around the halo and I adore it! Yes, you don't see the shoulders that much but it just seems to tie the whole piece together.

I think the melee in your inspiration ring is bigger in ratio to the main stone compared to your CAD . Both looks good, it just depends on the look you are going for, a halo or more of a cluster look? I'm sure he can make a smaller airline but will it be visible with a milgrain around the center stone? I'm sure it won't be a problem to lower the basket. Kinda confuse what you are saying about the tri-wire shank? Are you wanting tri-wire under the cathedral diamond loop?

I love a gap too. I'm waiting on a three stone ring with a pear halo center from DK and it is going to have a pretty big donut. So I am walking around with my plastic ring and a straight band to see how I feel about it and I do like the combo.
But it will be fun to shop for bands!

Great design! I’m a bit biased but I say yes to milgrain around the center and an airline. My ring has both and it definitely helps give it a vintage feel. David also made my ring, you are in good hands.

Still considering it and not positive which way I’ll go but something like this:

I think I’d prefer a smaller halo and less of a cluster look. I never considered visibility of the halo with the milgrain. I love the one DK did for msop04 and think the proportions are perfect.

7mm high for a design like this is actually pretty low. That's only a 1.25ct's width! I wouldn't mess with the height as it might change the aesthetics to look squat. (Just MHO. ;-) )

I’m gonna see if anything can be done with the height, even if just slightly. I definitely don’t want it to be squatty! This ring has a 1.84ct OEC, and its 6.2mm high. I’d like to get it down to somewhere close.

Oh sorry, I meant the visibility of the airline with the milgrain if you made the airline smaller. I'm sure you can see halo stones with the milgrain.

I see what you mean about the tri-wire going all the way to the basket. I love the look.

Oh my gosh, I meant to say airline. I knew what you meant! Lol. I’m looking at gallery designs now and the wheels are turning.

This is my halo tourmaline. The center is 6.9mm and the halo stones are about 2.9mm. Took some pics of it with a 5 stone band so you can see what the gap might look like and also I think, you might want to leave the height at 7mm so that you can still see the gallery when you put a band next to it.

It is so beautiful! That stone just glows all by itself. Love it!!! What is the height of the setting? Thank you so much for the photos. I’m a very visual person so this is super helpful.

Thank you. Glad to help. I just measured the ring. The basket is deeper near the shank and then tapers slightly towards the middle. I'll attach photos. It is a shorter than I thought it was so I think you probably could get away making it a little lower.

Thank you for this! I don’t want it lowered a lot, but I figure even going down to 6 or a little more would be enough. It just looks so tall right now. I think the next round of CADs will fix the issue. I told him even if I needed to edit the gallery design, I wasn’t opposed to that.

Yes, I agree. I think 7mm is a little high. I have one that is 6.65mm and I feel like its a little too high. It took me a while to get used to it and not bump it everywhere.

That’s so sweet of you to say! I’m glad to be back and excited for this project. I’m so impatient waiting on this second round of CADs. Checking my email every 30 minutes like a crazy person. Lol

I had him widen the donut so the gallery design isn’t angled as much, and I don’t love it. Think I’m going back to CAD #2
