Davi,
I noticed your addition of Peter Brush of Western Gem www.westerngem.com and was wondering if you'd write a review of the vendor. It would be good to know more about your shopping experience, gem/picture comparison, customer service and etc. :))

I'm not Davi, but I bought a piece of rough from him a long time ago, and it was a very good experience. He's Rusty'sDad on this forum I believe. He's very personable and nice to deal with.

I purchased a topaz from him about 3 years ago - a rather small one to make a small pendant for my petite 20 something granddaughter. I had it mounted locally. I don't have a current pic but I can get one from her (provided she hasn't lost it!).

He called it a root-beer color (and she specifically did not want yellow), I was looking for something in the Madeira color range. He was very nice to deal with and I was pleased with the transaction.

But of course!

I've dealt with Pete a few times. He supplied the citrine for my Aunt's daffodil pendant. He did a recut of my sphene's and is now currently cutting a light mint grossular garnet from his rough. I've also purchased a pink spinel from him.

Pete's pictures are, well, they're pictures :D They aren't the best photos I've ever seen quality wise, but they're getting better :D They are however, accurate for color. So are his written descriptions.

His communications are prompt and concise.

I've never had to return anything but he's an easy going guy and his policy is on website.

Picture time :D I'm bad about saving vendor photos unless I'm doing a comparison. At the time I first bought from him, he and I (along with a lot of others) were posting on the forum, so I didn't think it was necessary.

Citrine- I don't have his photo

I don't have the spinel pictures at work. They're all at home.

For the grossular, I saw he posted some on his Facebook and asked about their color. They fit bill and had him pick one of the stones for me and he's going to cut it this weekend (or abouts. I have no deadline so, there's no rush on my end. I caught him between jobs.) He described this as a lighter shade of mint. I'm really into near colorless stones with just a breath of color in them right now, so I jumped at the chance!

Here's the rough:

Whoa. Thanks for your description Davi. Those sphenes are beautiful! Please let us know how the garnet turns out. :appl:

Davi, I L O V E the daffodil pendant!  Is there already a thread on that somewhere?

That rough looks like it will produce a stone with a lovely delicate color -- hope you post pics, Davi!

Those sphenes are spectacular! Wow. I almost wouldn't believe they're the same stones. :appl:

I went and looked at the page yesterday when you added him to the list, may have to grab something from him :)

Hi,

I think his name on here is Roughysdad. Hes been a memeber a while., I usually have thought of him as a dealer in opaque stones.
