Is it true that stones that have been around for a while (6 months or more) are probably not so ideal or defective in some way? If they are so great, shouldn't they have been sold by now? Wouldn't the really nice ones, for good prices sell within a couple of months? Is there some truth to this?

No - not true

there can be a 1000 and 1 reasons

Not all Ideal/Excellent graded (AGS/GIA) stones sell immediately - we can only wish they did! Getting them exposed to enough eyeballs is what it''s all about...they usually sell themselves.

They do not look identical, and some that appeal to one person will not apeal to another...und so weiter...as the Ozzy says it''s a complex 4-dimensional matrix of second derivative exponentials, which usually equates to 10 to the 3rd power reasons...or something like that.
