And just got an e-mail back from Dan saying that somebody in Australia had scooped it up last night, and that it was the first spinel to go

The 1.49 ct opal reminds me of a boomerang. Sorry, I just had to add that since we're on the topic of Australia. It's an Australian stone as well. I definitely think someone from Australia should get that stone!!

Its funny you should mention opal TL. I was just recently thinking to myself, after seeing pics of nice opal around PS links- how in Aus, we think of opal as a bit cheap and gaudy/old-fashioned..(or at least I do).

I guess its just the fact of running into them in every tacky gift store on every family holiday when growing up, lol...

I've never really appreciated them before, and most likely wouldn't choose one over a different coloured stone. But they're definately growing on me, especially some of the nicer black ones

Sigh, I really really wanted that yellow or pink tourmaline...I e-mailed links of them to BF and told him he should get it for me for some future occasion (hint hint). Not sure if he got the hint though - I think he was too busy with finals to look at them!

But they sure are lovely!
