So yea....did anyone stay up all night to watch the Pope''s funeral. So this morning I was really dragging.
emdgust.gif
Last night I walked jsut over four miles. This morning I did 15 on the stationary bike adn then did sholders and abs. Yippee. Okay not really I am still tired and I am debating if I will go to class....I havent missed any and the semester is over at the end of the month...Soo sleepy. I hope everyone else is moving with a little more pep in their step.

I went to my Curves workout this morning. I got weighed and measured. My weight hasn''t fluctuated at all, but I''ve lost 4 more inches!! I need to stress more often...it seems to be the only way to lost weight/inches! LOL Now...off to work!

So I was lazy for the third day in a row and didn''t go to the gym today. I have my trainer appointment tomorrow, so I know that I have to go then. I''ll try to motivate to do some cardio afterwards.

However, I went to the doctor''s this morning and my weight is 5 pounds less than the last time I weighed in. It''s been a while, and the number is not one that I like, but at least there''s some progress! My bf suggested that we go out and have a big meal to celebrate.

Silly BF, tell him for every comment like that the diamond size increases a .5 ct!!!

that''ll teach him but good!

Congrats Ammayer on your scale results!!!!! Thats great!
I am your exercise twin- I haven''t worked out since Tuesday night, bad me. I forgot to take some medication I''m on for 4 whole days and now I am sick, dizzy, run-down, bad-sleep, nauseated- yuck!!! I know from experience I have another couple days of this and then I''ll be fine.

Great job also to matatora and Achi!!!! I bet you both see ongoing great results!

I hope to get some gym time in this weekend....I need it for stress relief....

Can I just say that I am unber jelous of you ladies! I am really struggling and there is a part of me that wants to quit. When I came back to school I was at 158 and now after just over three months of daily exericse and reduced calorie (read no fun) diet I am at 174.9....beh. I am upset and after six million tests I still have no clue how to lose this weight. I nearly screamed when I read windy1365''s post...I will never have to try and gain weight. Beh. Paper time

Although it only works in spurt, I try and remember that it didn''t take 10 days (or one month or three months) to gain 25 pounds, so it''s not going to take that short amount of time to lose it!

It sucks, I''m right there with you.

Okay ladies I haven''t worked out this week, but I did want to contribute this. My favorite "go out" pants are some really cute greenish BCBG fitted pants. I''ve had them for several years and they are perfect for girls night out (which is tonight). This weekend a year ago I put them on and they had gotten too small, but I tried them on last night and they fit!!! I''m so excited!

You go Appletini!!!

Have one of those green yummies for me tonight!

and two for me, apple!!!

just to help all of you feel better (and to force myself to be honest) I''m going to reveal my hideous weight (which I NEVER do, BF has no actual idea) I am 5'' 9", medium frame and I now weigh 250 lbs!!!!! 10 years ago I weighed 150!!! That''s 100 lbs- have you ever tried to lift 100 of anything? I get tired carrying the 37lb pails of cat litter up and down the stairs and I''ve actually put 3 of those babies on my frame! I have lost weight and put it back on over the last few years, but this weight is my all-time high. I just compulsively eat w/o thought or the ability to feel full. Hunger has little or nothing to do with why I eat, I''ve had counseling..it''s all good until the next "trigger situation." Even knowing my weaknesses doesn''t work because I know & understand all the reasons I eat..depression, fear of failure, fear of being abandoned, low self esteem, blah blah blah..every now & then the switch flips in my head and I get my act together and do very well with weight loss but the problems always resurface.

it feels good to get that off my chest! thanks for listening.....

Thanks for revealing FFF -- that''s extremely brave of you.
Weight is always an issue for women. No matter what size we are. I''ve heard Victoria Secret models that they don''t want to be the one walking the runway in the thong because their butts are so fat! Hello, if I had a butt like any of them I would come to work in one and nothing else!

Eventhough knowing your problems doesn''t make them going away, it''s so much better to be in denial. Ignorance may be bliss for the moment, but certainly not for the future.

Last night''s workout: Wrestling with Swiss Exercise Balls. They are slippery suckers when they are wet!!
9.gif

Some things I have discovered about Swiss Balls:

1. Despite their balloon like appearance, one can not blow them up with only their mouth. B/f thought for sure he could, but after a ton of huffing and puffing, the ball maxed out much smaller than the box said it should be.

2. When you blow them up properly with a pump, they expand even larger and are massive!
6.gif

3. Even though the directions suggest measuring the ball''s diameter, I would highly recommend measuring the ball''s circumference. It was SO MUCH EASIER to use a soft tape measure and put it all the way around the ball to check the size of the blown up ball.

4. Even though gas stations have tire pumps that will fill a Swiss Ball, this is not the ideal way to do it. The balls become so massive that they are difficult to put into and get out of vehicles.

5. It is not wise to carry them in the rain. I was trying to haul mine to my buiding, but the rain made it so slick that it slipped out and bounced quickly away. My parking lot has a large slope, and that stupid ball kept rolling and rolling and...
20.gif

6. Swiss balls look really funny bouncing off of car bumpers
9.gif

7. Put the long term plug in the ball right away! The package comes with a temporary plug for the ball for immediately after you fill it with air and a long term plug for the ball for exercising with the ball and a prong thing to dig one plug out and put the other one in. When I finally had my ball inside my place, I tried to switch out the temp plug and put in the long term one. That prong thing sliced the outer layer of my ball!
7.gif
The ball is okay for now because it looks like the ball has an inner layer that the prong did not slice, but I will have to look into a patch to keep the rip from spreading or causing a real hole.

After all of this "fun", my ball was slippery and disgusting so I have not tried any of the exercises yet. But, I hope to this weekend. I''ve looked through the book, and I''m excited to try a few of the moves.

I just read the posts that I missed while I was typing. I wanted to add:

All of you ladies are doing amazing

Just posting in this thread shows the fortitude and determination there for achieving your goals. I hope that everyone finds what works best for them. I read a long time ago that the absolute max amount of weight a person should lose each week is 2 pounds. Taking it off slowly, through lifestyle changes, is healthiest and gives longer lasting results.

Congrats for all of the success so far!

I used to have a swiss ball (I orginally became addicted when I had my personal trainer). You can do so many things with them, push ups, lunges, squats, all kinds of cruches. Try laying flat with the ball between your feet and lift your legs up to grab it with your arms, and then bring the ball behind your head almost to the floor and go back in forth with arms and feet...its intense.

I will try to only have two appletini''s tonight, b/c I will also be having a mango margarita at dinner, and I don''t want to drink too much for two reasons...1. I''m staying with the BF tongiht so I don''t want to drunkenly nag/obesses/get up set about the lack of progress with our future (trying very hard to keep my mouth shut and last Friday after two martini''s and 1/2 a bottle of wine, I went nuts), and 2. I have very busy day tomorrow and will not have the time to deal with a hangover.

For those compulsive eaters...I can be very bad at snacking, so here''s some rules of thumb...
*never go to the grocery store when you are hungry...you will buy too much
*don''t buy sweets...instead try to snack on carrots or celery or something crunchy that''s fruit or veggies
*drink LOTS of water

After you exchange the ball from your legs to your hands, do you keep your legs in the air while your are bringing the ball behind your head?

And Muchas Gracias for the exercise idea!

I do that exercise with my trainer. So hard! The way he makes me do it is laying flat with ball in hands and then both arms and legs come up. Then shoulders and hips come up -- so you''re live a V. Then put the ball between your feet, then lay back down again. Then vice versa. Hands-to-feet and then feet-to-hands is considered one. He makes me do at least 40 of these. Sometimes, I can barely walk the next day my abs hurt so much!

thanks ammayernyc!

You do 40 of them !?! Holy cow, I am impressed!! I have horrible abdominal muscles because everything I have tried in the past hurts my neck so I quit quickly. I think I will start out a bit slower, like 5 or 10, and see how my neck feels and take it from there. But I don''t envision myself being able to do 40.

I do four sets of 10. So it''s not like I do 40 of them at once. Another exercise that I''ve found that doesn''t hurt my neck is to put my legs straight in the air and just crunch up. Something about having to move forward and up instead of forward and down that make the pressure less on my neck.

My trainer teaches an ab class at his gym and he tests out a lot of new moves on me. I have lots of suggestions if you want them.

Also, make sure to do lower back exercises when you do abs... you need to even yourself out otherwise you''ll slouch a lot!

Matatora- hmm, that''s bizarre. post what you''re eating, if you would like?? my friends call me the food nazi. i''ve become kind of obsessive about what i eat. haha, i''m not the best person to take grocery shopping sometimes
3.gif
it may the case that you just don''t tolerate something that you''ve been eating consistently. it just doesn''t make sense. hmmmmmm. are you eating a lot of sugar, white food?

fff- i do the mindless eating thing too sometimes. it''s horrible! i''m bored, therefore i want to eat? why.... grr. i try to stay busy doing ANYTHING else. when i''m busy, i don''t even think about eating. perhaps that''s something to think about? one of my friends was telling me the other day that a lot of models take up knitting to keep their hands busy so they don''t eat. kind of sad huh? but the same idea really i guess. i also try not to keep things around the house that will tempt me to just eat for the sake of eating. so then if i was something special (ice cream etc), then we''ll go out and get one serving. it ends up being more expensive that way, but i''d rather pay a little more than eat a big container of ice cream!

i''m glad everyone else is doing well! i''ve been good this week- cardio everyday, even though this is a huge exam week and i had exams all day today! yaaaaaay. that makes me happy because i always drop off with working out when we get close to exams, but i feel so much better if i keep working out.

i may have to invest in one of these swiss balls... they sound like fun. where did you buy them ladies?

YES!!! I would love any/all ab workout suggestions. That''s the one area where I haven''t been able to find anything to work for me yet. I''ve tried regular sit-ups, ab-rollers, ab-cruchers, ab-seats, all that stupid junk on infomercials, and all of it hurts either my neck, my knees, or my back. I have a torqued spine and I''ve also had knee surgery on both knees, and it''s been really hard to find a comfortable way to work my abs.
