I am searching for a diamond and I believe I have found a few good ones but one of them is a VG cut diamond.

Here are the specs.

.96 F VS2 Very Good Cut
1.02 H SI2 Ideal Cut
1.10 G SI1 Ideal
1.05 F SI1 Ideal

I want to go with the .96 as its everything that I want to get her except the its a Very Good cut. Will I be hampered by the very good cut. I''ve looked at the 1st 3 and there are really clean and sparkle pretty damn good.

Would the F VS2 make up for lack of cut?

Though you could say yes to your subject title...you might get lucky and still get it all.

Neither dealers nor non-descript categories are necessarily all that trustworthy on describing cut...and ocassionally what''s described as "very good" is primo.

Can you get crown & pavilion info, and as much descriptive info as possible?

Regards,

No......Cut is King and give you that sparkle and shine. We just left the Clerk of Courts office to get our marriage license and the lady was "amazed" how my fiancee ring sparkled and shined. She said, "You dont see diamonds like that often!!"

We have a custom made 3 stone (ACAs) ring by Maytal.

Dont compromise......get the CUT right and the rest falls into place

Without the actual numbers (and sometimes even WITH the numbers), the terms "VG", "ideal", etc., are meaningless. But if you have seen all these diamonds, then you can certainly decide if they are beautiful.

But to answer your question - no, no color or clarity can ever make up for "cut".

Total ditto!!!

another thing about cut is that if a stone is cut poorly, it may look smaller than it really is -- thus, your .96, which might, if cut well, look around 1 ct, might look closer to 3/4 ct size if it is cut poorly. do a search on face-up size and you''ll get threads that explain more what i''m talking about. bottom line is that without good cut, carat weight doesn''t tell you much about how big the stone will look.

Yeah. I am trying to get the numbers for the diamond. I thought I had the numbers but there for the other diamonds I looked at. This very good cut diamond looked extremely good compared to the other 2 I viewed. It sparkled almost more than the ideals, but then it could have been the light.

make sure you see them in natural light to compare.
