Posted earlier and had one helpful reply, however, this is an extremely important decision and I really only have until tomorrow due to odd circumstances....aren''t they always.

Stone in question is a Cushion cut 3.01 carat ..GIA cert from 7/03...8.39x7.76x5.79. Depth % 74.6, Table % 67,
culet none, polish good, sym good, fl none, VS2, G

I desperately need an idea of price...thanks so much for any help....Gray

I wouldn't pay over 27K. I found a similar stone on whiteflash.com for that price, which has better table and depth measurements and larger dimensions.

Thanks,

that stone is a shocker!!

Have you heard of the regent cut?
It is slightly cushion shaped and cut to perform like an ideal cut round - complete with H&A's (although that gets hard i imagine in 3ct stones).

You would get a better look with a 2ct stone!!!

here is a DiamCalc picture

Hi!
I did not have a tone of time to scoope more ideas, but, why not start with 25K in mind and drop a line to Mr. Lauren at diamondsbylauren.com? I don't work there or anything, but I have seen some unusual cuts at this guy lately. However, the specs you have sound very good and very much worth a premium

Gary and all,
When you say the stone is a shocker I assume you mean that in a positive way.I can't get them to move from 28000...what do you think? thanks, Gray

it might be the worst proportions I have ever seen written anywhere.
It is almost inconceivably bad.
= shocker

Turn it on its side and you might get a reasonable 1ct pear shape out of it!

True enough, that stone is not a great cut ... so there should be an allowance for this. For that price I would expect a quite good cushion cut, and there are plenty of places to get better ones, unless this is pocket change for you. Regardless of your thrill with the particular stone (it should look respectable enough by itself if you cannot compare it side by side with a better cut) I would at least 'buy time' and get to see a well cut cushion (or simmilar cuts) before handing money out.

What's the rush anyway? I doubt there is a long line waiting for 3ct+ diamonds at that store...
