Well, I took everyone's advice and did not rush into the purchase of a ring last week at Graff like I was contemplating. I viewed the rings and they looked great, but in the back of my mind I was really nervous since I did not have any detailed cut information available (at least compared to what is available on the internet).

I am down to a few diamonds - one of which is a cut by Tolkowski diamond, one of which is ACA and one of which is not branded. I have done some research but surprsingly was not able to find as much information about Cut by Tolkowski diamonds as I would have liked. I would like to know if people generally think that Cut by Tolkowski diamonds are as good as ACA, or whether ACA is superior. I know this is a general question and it is a facts and circumstances question, but I am trying to get a general idea of whether I can be comfortable that it is a superior cut diamond. After all that I have read about ACA, I have no doubt that they are amazing - I would like to know if I could have that same assurance with a Cut by Tolkowski diamond.

I have a Towlkowsky diamond and I believe it certainly meets the qualifications of an ACA as well. You''re talking about ideal cut, hearts and arrows stones here. One brand is not "better" than another. It''s just the name a particular company puts on their diamonds. I would be proud to own either, and it came down to finding what I wanted in the Towlkowsky stone first. I imagine they are both in the top 1-3% of diamonds.

Thanks. I am going to try to find more information about them today.

Here is my advice. Don''t drive yourself nuts over this stuff. The two types of stones I have looked at are the classic styele ACA and newline. Newlines score off the charts in color and are absolutely stunning. The classics are great too, but I prefer the newline. Either or I am sure you will be happy.

I would think about things like upgrades etc...offered by both companies since either way you go you will be getting a beautiful diamond. Whiteflash has a very liberal upgrade policy which is a very good selling point.

Yes, both offer great upgrade policies and both can get you either a classic or newline style diamond. I have only seen classic and think they are magnificent, so you can''t go wrong if you choose that either!

I''ve never heard of classic vs newline - what is a newline??

Just to clarify...yes, WF uses the term "newline". Good Old Gold can also obtain diamonds with that cut if someone prefers it.

thanks ellen and ds! I''ll read up on that :)

I own a Tolkowski diamond as well and I love my diamond!!!

The ACA and Tolkowski stones are both gorgeous. I picked my stone because I let my eyes decide. I compared the ACA 1.6 I SI1 to my Tolkowski 1.64 I VS1. My eyes liked the Tolkowski stone better. I think it was because it was slightly larger.

But seriously, both stones were fabulous!

Milly, is your diamond new? It is almost a twin to mine! (1.63 H VS1)

Hey DS! No, my stone is not new. I''ve had it since last year. Let me see if I can pull up the linky to it. I didn''t know you had a Tolkowski cut stone until I read this thread. How funny is it that our stones are almost identical? Except, you''re my ''H'' sister.

No worries at all - glad to see some pics. And glad to hear that you like your stone and think that it compares to ACA. I have just never seen either in person and have not heard as much about Tolkowski as I have ACA, so any and all information is appreciated.
