So now that I have the center stone figured out, I am focusing on finding the perfect setting. After looking everywhere from B&M's to online I have decided I will most likely need to go custom to end up with something that I am completely happy with. I wanted to throw out the general concept that I am going for to get people's reactions, as you all were so helpful in finding a center stone.
So the main point for the setting is a split shank design, very similar to BGD's split shank truth that I have attached. However, there are a couple of things that I would like to add/change.
The biggest alteration I would like to make to this setting is to add engraving/millgrain work along the shanks of the ring, similar to the other attached picture. My girlfriend loves that "antiquey" look, my only concern is that I do not want this to look out of place and not flow with the head of the ring, as in the picture Brian's truth head seems very fluid and modern. One way I was thinking about ensuring that doesn't happen is by having the setting made with the Truth head that is made up of V-prongs (which is offered on other BGD rings) rather than the ones in the picture, and including engraving on those as well? Opinions as to how that would "flow".
In regards to mill grain work, is it possible to have varying thicknesses ? My girlfriend vary much likes rings that are delicate looking, and doesnt prefer thick borders of metal along the sides of pave work. Is it possible to have a very fine amount mill grain along the sides, but not have it look as if the stones are channel set?
the last alteration I am looking at making is the addition of 5 surprise stones in the "v" looking bar in the head.
One last thing, I was wondering if anyone has a setting that has Brian's truth head ? My girlfriend wants a low profile ring and I have been able to find very few hand shots of rings with this head, so anyone that can give me insight as to how low these rings sit would be greatly appreciated.
sorry for the long post, but I am just hoping to get some opinions as to the overall concept of the ring
