Cushions that are graded Cut: Good - are they worthless?

If a cushion is cut in the faceting pattern of a vintage cushion, not a newer cushion brilliant, and the GIA cert states Good for cut grade, is this stone worthy of trading up in the future? For instance, I read that old mine cuts (some, not all) are considered undesirable and not worth much (depends on market i guess, too). If it looks pretty, polished and sparkles nicely, isn't that enough? It's vvs2.

Thanks again :wavey:

Does GIA even issue cut grades to cushions? Too many factors that determine a cushion's look.

they don't kelpie - and neither does AGS, by the website as of today.

so iluv any cut grading on a stone with a GIA or AGS report is going to be an in-house assignment - you can ask what parametres for the cut grades are, but I would not expect anything so comprehensive that you could buy blindly by if you are looking for certain performance characteristics.

That's what I thought, I was wondering if maybe Iluvdiamonds was interpreting the symmetry or polish as a cut grade. But I know things change like AGS grades princesses and maybe some other fancies now too.

Great! I thought that could possibly be the case. I love cushions and I agree the visual performance matters most, right?! :wavey:
