Went to look at cushions today. Saw 3, all were the same price. Stats are:

1 - 2.70 H VS2, Ex/Gd, 59/67.9, 1.09, antique 8 pavilion
2 - 2.41 G VS2, Ex/Ex 56/67.5, 1.19, modern 8 pavilion (pavilions not along the main axis)
3 - 3.00 I VS2, Vg/Gd, 63/67.5, 1.14, 4 pavilion

Any thoughts on the pictures? As much as people here seem to love the chunky antique look, I was also drawn to the slightly more brilliant look of stone 2. 3 seemed like a good compromise in cut, but I don''t think I want to go to I.

picture of 1 attached, 2 and 3 to follow.

I''m an asscher gal but that number 1 chunky cushion looks pretty yummy to me!!

If you like 2 then go with 2! This is really about personal preference. I find the modern 8 pav styles are beautiful in person but don't photograph well. I have one myself and find them very beautiful. The chunky faceted also are beautiful and I actually like them more. They are less busy inside and you can see through them. The sparkle between the two are different.

I actually like the shape of 2 over 1. 1 seems a little unsymmetrical for the shape. However, I do love the way 1 looks better. I would pass on 3.

go with what speaks to your heart.

I like #1. I LIKE cutlets. I think that''s perfection.

DITTO again. As each cushion diamond is unique in shape - the best way to judge is to see the diamond in person as you have done and pick out the one that appeals best.

The chunky antique cushions are certainly what is in "vogue" here on Pricescope right now, so that's probably why you are seeing the preference for chunky cushions everywhere here.

But you need to buy what you love. I have a cushion similar to #2 and I have to say that it gives my best friend's ACA round diamond a run for it's money with sparkle. It's just a gorgeous cut IMO.

So knowing what I know and also considering that you love it the best, it seems like a no brainer to me to pick 2!

Number 2 is speaking to me

. Its saying "come to me...come to me".

My preference is #2 as well followed verrrrry closely by #1. I wouldn''t choose #3 because of the I colour - anyone who''s colour-sensitive is going to see a little yellow no matter how great the cut is.

I''m a die hard antique cushion lover, but stone #2 is SO GORGEOUS! I agree with Charmy on stone #1; it looks a bit uneven. Stone 2 has a beautiful shape and the faceting is dreamy!

I generally like the "chunky" cushions, but #2 looks amazing! If that is the stone you are drawn to then you should get it.

#1. Nothing looks like an antique cut except an antique cut IMO

#2 and #3 are yawn-inducing to me, but then I just don''t care for modern cushions.

Ditto for me. #2 would be my vote (I also LOVE the elongated shape), and seeing how it speaks to you ... go for it!

I like #1 and #2 both, and think your decision should be based on (1) personal aesthetic preference and (2) the style that you hope to achieve.

#1 is more antique in feeling -- it is a bit asymm and the facets are chunkier, less organized. This one looks more crystalline.

#2 is more modern, more organized and if you like symmetry and order, #2 is your best bet. It is more like our modern ideas of a cushion brilliant.

If I were designing a very old-fashioned, Victorian or Georgian inspired piece, I would choose #1 b/c it feels a little bit like an OMC.

If I were making a more modern design -- like a halo or a more geometric design -- I would go for #2!

I like #2, but I''m a bit biased ;)
