Today, I saw this on the Internet:

"A typical modern era cushion has a table % between 53%-64%, crown height above 11.2%, medium girdle, crown angle 32-35 degrees, pavilion angle 40 degrees and a total depth between 56%-61%."

What do you think about that?

Where can I find cushions cut with great precision (GIA VG/VG at least)?

I love the look of a 1.1 ratio cushion, a little table, a steep crown (more than 35 degrees) and a medium culet.

I really like the look of this one, but I don''t like the yellow fluorescence and the "only" good symmetry.

I also prefer a better clarity for a 3ct cushion.

The typical modern cushion is way deeper than 61% in the stones I have seen. The make tends to be somewhat of a compromise except in the fine branded stones. This gives more weight with less diameter. Not a great combination, but they can look very nice. There are a couple branded cushions with great cut and fine specs....

Thank you David!

Could you tell me the name of some cushion brands?

I don't have the names. I believe GOG or several other good guys, all active vendors, here may have the kind of special cushions that really do the job properly.

Oh, OK, I know the brands you mean. But they are to squarish for me and they have a pointed culet...

I will try to find something in Antwerp.

Hi Stephen
There are a number of cutters in Israel now cutting Cushions with hearts and arrows. It’s the perfect shape for it and they can use standard indexing. They are rather square though.
I am sure some of the cutting factories in Antwerp also do them.
If you like I will see if I have some drawings or cad files and PM them to you.

Johan
