Calling all cushion diamond experts...
Please send me any and all information on Cushion stones and culet size.

What is the difference in brillance re: small and large culets?
Is there a price or value difference depending on culet size?
Are the large culets more like the origial cushion stones cut?

Also, I would like any information or links about Cushion stone history.

Thank you all.

Hi IP,

I am not an expert but I do not believe that culet size will have an effect on a stone's brilliance. (If I'm wrong, experts, chime in!) More than anything I think it just affects the "look" of the stone--stones with larger culets seem to me to have a more "antique" appearance. Some people like that, others don't.

I love cushions! Good luck!

dumb question, but what is the definition of glitter vs. sparkle?

Here is a beautiful old fashioned cushion with a large (I think) culet from engagementringsdirect! See the diff?

Best of luck in your search...

I'll chime in with regard to my cushion-cut stone. It is a cushion brilliant (new stone) and has no culet, but looks "glittery." It has chunky facets and resembles older stones in that regard. So, I'm not sure that the two go hand in hand - but I'm certainly no expert! I personally don't like the look of a large culet, but if it were a beautiful antique stone I might make an exception. I love the antique stones!

Great examples! I understand glitter and sparkle now.
thanks
