So in my other thread I mentioned that I was looking for a modern cushion.

I had been talking with Chris at ERD as Jonathan had been away from GOG.

Well, both just came back with some great looking stones. I'm posting them here both to help me organize my thoughts, and to elicit your opinions.

Chris and Jonathan, if you are reading, thanks for your help. I know it's a competitive market.

Without furter ado...here are the stones...I'm going to post in separate posts...

I"m not well versed in ASET on cushions but I think the 2nd cushion has leakage (the white area) and doesn't look quite symmetrical to me either.

Also I prefer the more pillow-y shape of the 1st one so if I had to choose between the 2 based off what you gave I would go with #1. Once again not an expert though.

EDIT- I just want to edit my post to say that really cushions are personal preference. They are not RB's that can be weeded out by the numbers posted on the certificate. Since plot patterns vary I think cushions need to be seen in real life to see if you like them or not. Just my .02. I love antique cushions but pretty much have zero interest in the cushion brilliants. The ASET will help determine if there is leakage etc but other then that I highly recommend seeing the diamon in person to see how you feel about it compared to other cushions.

I love the first one. I am partial to pillowy diamonds, and that stone has excellent light return!!

Here's the last one...
Does the ASET black vs white background make a huge difference???

It's about 3k cheaper than the previous 2 at about 19K...

The first cushion wins for me. The 2nd and 3rd options are leakier, in addition to preferring the way the colours are distributed on the ASET.

What do you look for if they have a black background?

Thanks.

Black background not as good as white for seeing leakage and obstruction.

Blue - contrast due to obstruction. It represents light coming at a 75 to 90 degree angle.
Red - direct light
Green - reflected light that comes at an angle of 45 degrees.
Black (or white) - leakage
