Hello from Sydney, Australia!

I''m new here. I''ve been lurking for a while! It''s come crunch time and I''ve put a deposit on a cushion cut diamond, but I''m stressing a little and I''d love some advice.

I''m a bit worried about table and depth - I have seen the diamond in person and compared it to 5 others. It was beautiful in person but I don''t really know what I''m looking for! Please help!

How does table and depth compromise the brilliance? The photo is pretty terrible and doesn''t do the diamond justice.... please be honest!

Symmetry: VG

thanks so much in advance!

Hi Claire,

Could you get a close up pic of this diamond? That would help if so. But as you have seen this diamond and love it, and have compared it to 5 others, then it is definitely worth consideration. One thing, check it out away from the store lights if you can, to make sure you like it in '' real life'' conditions, as diamonds can look very different away from bright store lights.

I will go and have another look tomorrow and take some more pics.

That white blob is worrying me a bit...

You mean in the middle of the diamond? It might be the culet showing through, but some more pics would be very useful. Use macro mode on the camera and no flash, try and get some table uppermost close up shots and some from the side.

Don''t forget a side view too - I''m curious about the crown height, which is important for coloured light return aka fire.

What should the crown be?

Yeah you really need a better picture because so far I''m not liking the looks of that one. Sadly, Cushions cannot be picked based on their numbers really. You have to look at them, but it''s good sign you said it was beautiful in person.

thanks for the advice guys, will get more pics today x

Call me crazy, but I think it has some potential. I know we don't usually see a lot of the 4 pavilion main cushions around here, but when I look at angelainjapan's HW micropave cushion

, I really love the kaleidoscopic faceting patterns that her stone displays and this one reminds me of hers (Angela's has a 63% table and 63% depth, so the table on yours is a little bit larger, but sometimes you have to throw those numbers out the window if your eyes love what they see). This is the link to her photos: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/loving-my-harry-winston-cushion-pave-ering-part-ii.74219/

claireabelle, the depth seems fine. See if you can get some more photos in indirect sunlight and, like Chrono said, a side view so you can see the crown height (I think 15% and above would be nice). It's also hard to tell the color from this one photo, so if you're able to get a photo in the faceup position on a white background, that'd be helpful so we can see the faceting pattern and determine whether the white blob is troublesome.
