I found a really beautiful cushion cut diamond. The specs are:

Shape : Cushion
Carats : 2.17
Cut Grade : Premium
Color Grade : I
Clarity Grade : SI1
Measurement : 7.84x7.42x4.95
Ratio : 1.06
Depth : 66.7
Table : 61
Girdle : -
Culet : None
Polish : Excellent
Symmetry : Very Good
Certification : GIA
Fluorescence : NO
Price: $11,853

The only problem is that I had it sent to a local jeweler and he thinks that it is more of a SI2 than an SI1. Do you think this stone is worth the price if it is in fact an SI2? I am going to be seeing the stone tomorrow to take a look at it in person.

Welcome!

So I take it, you have bought the diamond already, and sent it to a jeweller for setting? It is possible that this jeweller could actually be wanting to make a sale, and therefore his perspective on this diamond is influenced by this?

You can't really judge a cushion by the numbers, as you have seen it and love it, then it is probably well worth considering! It is hard to speculate regarding the clarity grade really without seeing the stone. What might be an idea is to make the sale final on an independant appraiser evaluating the diamond to give their opinion on the clarity grade. That way you would have some peace of mind. The price appears to be in the right area using the search tool above, and allowing that brick and mortar jewellers can price a bit higher.
Here is a tool so you can find an appraiser in your area. https://www.pricescope.com/appr_list.aspx

I actually had it set to Ira Kramer. He has really given me an independent opinion on the stone and just feels that the report might be a little off on the clarity. He told me to come in and look at the stone to see if I really like it as he may be looking too much into something he found on the stone. I just don''t know if it''s worth the price it is does in fact have a noticeable flaw.

It is hard to say really, it is a larger stone and generally the larger you go, especially with the SI clarity grades, the chances may increase that you can see something. Not all SI clarities are created equal, some may be eyeclean and others not. Where is the inclusion located - is it face up and very visible, or more from the pavilion/ side view? I take it that you have seen this diamond already as you describe it as really beautiful, so I think go and see it again and talk to Ira, then see where to go from there. Ira seems to have helped a few people here, so then you can see what to do. Also clarity grading is subjective, so maybe a third party might be worth consulting if you like the diamond enough to do so.

See this thread for more info on the eyecleanliness subject, it may be helpful.

I can''t fully remember, but I think he said face up on the top-left corner of the stone. It was just a surprise to him that he did not see it on the GIA report, but clearly saw it on the actual stone. I guess I will have to wait till tomorrow to really find out how it looks and if I want to purchase the stone. Thanks for you help and I will keep you updated on how it goes.

You are welcome! It is so hard to advise here, but I think go and look for yourself and see what you think. Interesting that he didn't see it face up on the plotting diagram. Did you buy it from an online vendor? Then you can see if you want to send it back, think it would be worth getting a third independant opinion if Ira is not independant ( I don't know too much about him) or see what else to do. I will be interested to hear how you get on.
