Hey all,

So I've done a lot of research on my own about cushion cut diamonds and I've met with several jewelers over the past 6 months or so. I found the jeweler I want to work with and she gathered up about 12 square cushions (non-crushed ice look) for me to look at. There was one that just stood out among the rest on display; however, it had a unique characteristic that I wasn't used to seeing. The table was larger than the depth of the stone. In most of my searching, I've tried to find a table around the mid 50s with depth mid 60s. This table however is 72% and 65% depth.

The stone is running $15,400 and I've attached the GIA cert. I know its likely tough to tell without seeing the stone, but it has a very unique look to it (in a good way).

My only hesitation is that the price either 1) shouldn't be that high if the large table = bad cut or 2) it doesn't fully light up like a fireball in direct sunlight. There's a lot of sparkle, but the fire is more around the corners/edges.

Any opinions help as I need to make a decision tomorrow. Also - my g/f was with me when we looked at the diamonds and this one was hands down her favorite. She loves it which is great, but can I do better for the money too? And are there any other concerns from looking at the GIA mapping?

Thanks!

-Brian

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Some more facts on the stone without looking at the GIA cert attached above.

You are the one that saw the ston but off the GIA report I probably wouldn't buy it. The inclusions scare me - where they are positioned and how many there are. Further, I would think that facet pattern would give a crushed ice look.

What were the other options shown to you?

There is not enough information to comment, certs are not enough when evaluating cushions.
