Hi everyone! First off I would like to say that this forum has been very helpful alfready. I have been lurking around the site and forums here trying to educate myself because I had no knowledge about diamonds before.

Well I am currently deployed right now so I cannot go to a store and pick out a ring. I started research online so I could buy one now and have it when I got back. My girlfriend and I decided we are going to get married when I get back home in a couple months. She has told me she just wants us to get matching wedding bands and didn''t need an engagement ring. I managed to pry some what she likes in a ring out of her though. A solitare princess cut on yellow gold and I figured out she wears a size 6.

I am looking to get anywhere from a .40 to a .50 karat diamond. I''d like the color to be an H or better. The clarity a SI1 or better. I want to spend under $550 or less on the diamond. I know this is a very small budget compared to most, but she doesn''t like big flashy things. We also both think you don''t need to spend a ton of money on a ring and would be better spent somewhere else. It needs to be a place that will set the diamond for me. I would really like it to be from James Allen because I have heard very good things about them and they have actual pictures of the diamond.

I have a few picked out, which one would be the best bet?

Welcome!

I like the first diamond out of the ones chosen, the others not so much, plus the IDjewelry diamond does not have at least a photo provided and without that at least we don''t have much of an idea...Ask JA for an Idealscope image of the first diamond if you like this one, they should be able to send you one in a day or two.

It looks to be the best cut to my eyes going by the photo( I am only a consumer not an expert BTW).

Thanks for the input so far, more suggestions are welcome also!

I also like the first one, although this one that you posted might also be promising (looks like it could be decent from the pic, but it''s not the greatest pic).

The first one is gone. Did you put a hold on it??

I have it in my shopping cart, but I haven''t bought it yet. I did email them asking for idealscope and high resolution pictures. They must have it on hold cause of that. I will post the pics when I get them.

I got the idealscope image from James Allen on the first one.
How does this look?

It looks okay, I can see some slight leakage but whether this is visible to the eye is debatable. The other pics will help also, so post them when you get them and we can go from there.

Thank you for your help!
