Could this be the smaller version of Acinom’s sapphire?

@Acinom’s sapphire lives rent free in my head… I randomly think about that stone way too frequently.

Anyway I was combing PS for sapphire info and saw someone mention JTV. Since I was nap trapped I figured I’d take a peek and saw this one.

Thought? I’m still new to figuring out gemstone vendor pics. TIA!

Edit - or this one?

I can’t believe I didn’t look at this site earlier.

Short answer is, it's difficult to say. Most of the photos she's posted of it are a tad bit over-brightened, -exposed, and -saturated. It's just how smartphones do it, but it means it's not the most realistic representation. There's this one old picture of it that looks more natural and I think it's probably closer to what it looks like in real life: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-book-of-vendor-boxes.243861/#post-4419573

In any case, her sapphire is crazy saturated. It's also a bit silky which makes it glowy. If you want one like it, that's the combo you need.

I know others have shopped at JTV, they supposedly have a rock-solid return policy. My main issue is, judging a stone by a single studio photo can't ever give you an idea of the real colour you'll see with your eyes once you get it. Don't know if they respond to customer requests for additional images, but if they do, I imagine that would be the way to go.

Her sapphire is what dreams are made of! I have bought from JTV eons ago and have always been happy with my purchase. Saying that, it never was as big as a purchase as the ones you shared.

I have bought from JTV in the deep past and always had great experiences

Thank you all for your input. At the JTV prices I’d have to sell the sapphires I have to swing it, so I don’t think I’ll make any moves until I’m 100% sure. I always assumed a sapphire that’s big enough + the color of acinom’s would be too far out of budget to be realistic.

Always, always shop around for stones on JTV. I have yet to see the JTV stone that could not be purchased cheaper elsewhere. Put the stone details into Google and see what comes up. Have a look at Pearlman's. I have found them good at providing extra pictures/videos as well.

Avondale when you say a bit silky, what does that equal, slightly included? So visible inclusions are what makes the glow?

It looks like they have the same sapphires in stock… is it like how JA or Blue Nile will sell the same diamond?

Yes. They are getting their stones from the same wholesaler. So they do not actually keep them in stock, but get them once they sell them. Africagems has the same stones too but I believe they are most expensive of all.

More the general quality of the crystal. Don't think of it as feathers or crystals inside you can easily spot. Yes, technically it's inclusions, but it's inclusions on the microscopic scale - silk, fingerprints, very fine clouds. And in just the right small amount that's sufficient to give it some glow, but doesn't hinder the stone's brilliance, which you can see in the facet reflections in the photos. It's a very fine balance.
