I was hoping someone could post a screenshot from DiamondCalc (or another
modeling program), as I don''t have the software on this machine yet...

I realize the HCA score is a little high (2.5), but the ring will be
tension set...(TR-025) so a little leakage might not be a bad thing.

Thanks for your help in advance.... (btw... if anyone else would like
to jump in with a price they think this stone is going for, that''d be
great... I''ve not looked in a few months and I know prices have been
moving).....

.71 RB G VVS2 5.73-5.76 x 3.53mm (IGI)
polish: VG
symm: VG
Overall Cut: EX

depth 61.8%
table 57.1%
crown 14.4%
pav. 43.7%

Thanks.

Should be a pleasing stone. The parameters fall within the AGS 0 category, with the following numbers. The depth should properly be notated as 61.4%, by the way, if the diameter and depth measurements shown are correct.

Bear in mind that results produced with crown/pavilion angles are usually more accurate than results produced with crown/pavilion height/depths, but the image and numbers should give you some idea where you stand. The pavilion angle estimated (41.1') is a little deeper than normal, but is counteracted by a crown angle a little shallower than normal (33.8') to produce a pleasing end result.

DiamCalc has temporarily quit reporting the (non) leakage factor until they come up with a new program figuring it more accurately, so I just gave the moderate amount of leakage just inside the table the word description of "very good to good". That's what's putting the HCA score at the 2.5 level. Not the end of the world, 2.5. Close enough to be a contendor, and should be visually judged for a final decision.

Light Return Mono…….....Very Good 1.02
Light Return Stereo……….Very Good 0.99
(Non) Leakage Mono……...Very Good to Good
(Non) Leakage Stereo…….Very Good to Good
Contrast………….......…....Very Good to Good 0.93
(Non) Fisheye Effect……..Very Good 1.00

IdealScope- In general, the darker pink areas indicate areas of greater light return, with the lighter pink areas indicating areas of lesser light return. The black areas indicate areas of greater contrast, with the gray areas indicating areas of lesser contrast. The white areas indicate areas of light leakage. A good explanation of the IdealScope image along with examples can be found at https://www.pricescope.com/idealscope_indx.asp

Disclaimer- The facet arrangement and symmetry of the image will probably vary from your actual diamond, which may affect the light performance indicated, sometimes dramatically. The image shown has perfect symmetry, which is rare, and the star facet/lower girdle facet lengths may vary from your diamond. The computer simulation is reproduced best when the actual diamond is being viewed an, d the image "tweaked" to the appearance of the diamond, or when the Sarin data is downloaded directly into the program. However, this "blind" reproduction should be helpful in indicating the major light performance aspects.

Thank you very much Richard.

It's certainly not the most impressive IdealScope image I've seen before, though I'm wondering if in this situation (tension setting) if the loss due to leakage would not be partially counteracted with the fact that light can also enter the pavillion?

I also wonder if the apparent size of this stone wouldn't be minimized a bit more by the fact that the table is 57.1% & the depth being between 61.4% & 61.8% .... I realize the problems (potentially) associated with 60/60s..... It's just hard to tell sometimes just off of the numbers.

Here's what I'm looking for if anyone wants to chime in on nice stones....

RB, G-I, .5-.85 (tending towards a .6-.72?), VVS2-VS2, Slight to Med-Blue Fluor, Ideal (or very close) Symmetry, VG Polish or better. ( items like would be nice if there wasn't a large premium attached...)

Again, some leakage might be okay if it proved true that light entered (as well as exited) due to the setting & of course I'm looking for the best deal possible.

[ideally, inclusions would be disguised by the girdle & therefore the setting, pinpoint/cloud would be okay... feather I'm told is a no-no & in any case I just don't want to have it noticable or have it affect the symmetry].
