I just discovered we have a costume party to go to this weekend, and while we don''t HAVE to dress up, I don''t want to be a party pooper either. I haven''t done a costume in many years . . . and I''m really cheap. No way I''m going to spend $50 on a costume.

So, I''m taking recommendations for a cheap and easy costume that could be thrown together quickly.
And to add a couple more limitations--nothing scary or sexy, I''m afraid.

Help me please!

You probably won''t want to do it, kinda falls in the sexy category I guess. But I heard of this and have always thought it was clever, cute, and cheap. You simply wear a slip (I''d go black with white lettering) and write Freudian on it.

really easy one: wear a white t-shirt with a big "P" on it and make one of your eyes appear to have a black eye. "Black eyed P"

Cute!

If you have any old bridesmaid dresses that were truly hideous you could wear those and go as the "crazed bridesmaid." Similar thing will work with prom dresses. It works even better if the dresses are from the 80s or earlier.

See, if I could track down a bridesmaid dress from MY wedding, it would totally fit the "hideous crazed" category. No one kept them, though . . . go figure.

My only excuse is that we were barely out of the eighties.

Cute ideas so far! Keep ''em coming!

I've found, although maybe it's because I love clothes, that it would be easy for me to be a pirate.
Do you have

a red bandana/scarf
a red sash for the waist
gold belt
black capri pants
black gauchos
black long skirt
a black/white striped shirt (or red/black or red/white striped)
a corset looking shirt
a camisole to go over a long sleeved shirt
a 'puffy shirt' (Seinfeld) white with the romantic details
black belt with big buckle
black knee high boots or black pointed heel shoes
red tights/ striped tights/ fishnets
cropped black jacket
big hoop earings

i had a last minute party a few years ago and i went as a ''bouquet''
i got an old shirt and hot glued flowers all over it then made a ''to:.... from:.....'' tag that stuck out somewhere by my shoulder.

Hmmm, so far I''m liking the pirate idea . . .

A gumball machine is fun and easy. You need a basic black ski cap and black clothing underneath to look like the actual machine. Then, take a huge clear plastic garbage bag and cut holes in the bottom for your legs. Slide the bag up to your hips and then fill with multi colored balloons before securing the bag near your neck and shoulders.

LOL... I am going to be Flava Flav... I bought the Viking hat.. 6.99$
Bought a fake grill 7.99
going to braid my hair,
Wearing a HUGE white t-shirt
Baggy pants and white sneakers.
Bought a "gold" chain and rigged it to go on my Daughters old Disney Clock!!

It is a trip.....

I know it is just horrible....LOL... but I wore it to host my daughters halloween party and I had the kids just rolling!!!

I am wearing it next weekend to an adult party!!!

Last year I dressed as half angel/half devil. I made wings out of cardboard and hot glued felt and feathers on them. Got a tail and horns at Walmart, then made a halo and attached it to the horns.

That''s hilarious! I have to agree, it''s a little scary, but definitely not sexy! Equestrienne, I love the gumball machine idea, too . . . I just might have hubby do that one if I don''t.

I want to say "thanks!" for this. I''m going to do it for our faculty dress up tomorrow.

here''s an easy one:

Wear a pink sweat suit

tie a shoe to the top of your head.

You are a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe.

HI:

White tee shirt or old white sheet. Draw/paint big yellow ball in the center of your chest, front and back. Wear red horns and devil''s fork. You are a devilled (sp) egg.

I think I''ll buy some foam and spray paint it greyish, wrap it around my son and form a hat/lid, and my son can go out as a garbage can.

cheers--Sharon

Cute ideas, Sevens and Canuk!
