Convert my old engagement ring into a necklace

Well, I sadly got a divorce last year and now I’m thinking about converting my beautiful ring that I still absolutely adore into a pendant. It’s honestly such a hard pill to swallow, especially after all the hard work that went into making the ring. I’m really at a loss as to what type of design for the center stone but I’m leaning towards an east to west setting

I know a few will remember this beauty

Would you be willing to wear it on your right hand maybe on a middle finger? Do a little purifying ceremony? It represents so much hard work and design on your part. It doesn’t look inherently like an engagement ring IMO. But I get it if it’s just imbued with negative energy and needs a reset.

Sorry about your divorce.
I’ve had one as well but I still wear my old engagement ring as a right hand ring.
It’s is and always will be a beautiful ring so I make sure I enjoy it.
I’m also not a fan of losing value ie trashing the setting to harvest the diamonds.
I’d resize it so it fit your right hand middle finger.

This is what I would hope for too - it’s such ad amazing ring. Or if you have any other reset ideas and call it your divorce ring, which some people have done. I would want to be able to look at that diamond! Unlike with a necklace.

It such a beautiful ring/setting and obviously perfect for that stone...I too would hope that you could turn it into a RHR.

Sorry to hear about your divorce.

How often do you wear it? I miss wearing bling lol

I remember this beautiful ring. I would definitely try to wear it on your right hand & see how it makes you feel?

It’s on regular rotation because I love it.
It’s the Victorian ruby and diamond ring.
In fact it’s the trilogy sapphire ring that causes me most consternation because it was a very naughty impulse buy when I was 18.

Gorgeous and I’m so glad you still enjoy it!

+1 to this. My very first thought upon seeing the post is that this could easily be worn as a RHR as is (emotions aside.) It is not overwhelmingly e-ringy to me. It is too pretty to only see when looking in a mirror, and has great presence for a middle finger ring.

If you really feel that you must do something to change it, what about replacing the two white side diamonds to some other color like yellow diamonds or gemstones like sapphires or emeralds?

Beautiful stone! I agree with everyone that it could easily be worn as a right-hand ring.

But if that doesn’t feel right, a pendant set East–West in a rich gold bezel or Georgian-inspired collet setting would be stunning.

its a beautiful ring and a jaw droppingly beautiful stone
im glad you are going to give it a 2nd life post divorce (sorry about your marriage ending but hope you are happy)
i also want you to try the Right hand ring thing
its your ring !

I agree with everybody. I would keep it as a right-hand ring. But not horizontal. I think that stone looks beautiful vertical. You will find a lovely setting for it.

If you really can't wear it as a ring, I'd suggest making it into a bracelet so you can see it easily

Does it have to be a necklace? How about a bangle if a right hand ring does not suit?

Had I kept my engagement ring which ad 3 EC diamonds about 0.75cttw, I would have repurpose the stones into a bangle with an overlapping design.

However, it was sold in order to help to fund my relocation, hey ho!

I repurposed my mum's 1.94ct MRB into a bangle as I don't like MRBs as rings.

DK :))

I remember your journey with this ring and I think it would be a shame to take it apart. In my view you could definitely wear it as a RHR. But I also think you can wear it on whatever finger that you want. Left hand, right hand, whatever. I'm not one to think that a diamond ring like yours has to signify that you are married or not. I understand if you don't want to wear it on your left hand because of what it signified in your recent past, but your thinking about that may change. Sometimes it takes time after a divorce to lose the connection of things with the person, but it may happen. So whatever you do, don't rush.

I've just read your posts on this ring - what a transformation! Sorry to hear about your divorce and hope that you're in a good place now.

You mentioned in a later post that you miss wearing bling, and to me that suggests this diamond should be worn where YOU can see it!

Would you consider an east-west set ring? With its proportions, it'll pack a punch and stretch the entire width of your finger!

Here's a few examples. Gosh, I love these east-west marquises.

Sofia Kaman (Billie, 2.33ct Marquise East West Champagne Diamond Engagement Ring, probably similar colour to your stone!)
