Hi

Great site, loads of info. Currently doing the engagement ring thing and could use some advice. I came across the following .98 RB described as an ''ideal cut''. Stats as follows :

Report: GIA
Shape: Round Ideal Cut
Carat: 0.93
Color: H
Clarity: VS2
Depth: 62.9
Table: 57
Crown Angle: 35.7
Crown %: 15.4
Pavilion Angle: 41
Pavilion %: 43.1
Girdle: Slightly Thick-Thick Faceted
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Faint
Measurements: 6.17-6.17X3.89

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-548790.htm#

The problem is the Holloway Cut Advisor rates it as a 4.6 (Good) and the ideal scope image (attached) is crap (in my complete unprofessional/amateur opinion

)

Thanks for any help

Cheers

Rnpeg, I'm still new to this process also, but I would recommend that you might want to lower your clarity to perhaps SI1 or SI2 (eye clean, of course), and see if you can't get a better cut for around the same price range. It seems like the crown and paviion angles are a bit high (especially the crown), causing the cut to be a bit deep.

Might be a steep deep combo.

It is one of Whiteflash's A Cut Above (ACA) stones?
