Cut is the only thing that is still confusing me.

I know i diffently like alot of fire! But I dont no what to look for in cut, do i look off the various charts that say ideal, very good, good?

What would be the "best" or a "very good",
cut for a : .88 - 1.00, G,H, vs1-s1 ?

I dont no what i should look or ask for?

thanks

Ok, here are some examples of actual stones so you can get an idea of price, etc.:

0.90 G VS2 GIA cert for $3534 (with PS discount) This stone is only graded as an AGS 3 -- but look at the ideal scope image. This is a stone that doesn't have an "ideal" cut, but that will perform almost as well for less $. You'll see below that "hearts and arrow" stones have a premium . . . do they have better symmetry than this stone? Yes. Do they have better light return? Probably, but not necessarily.

0.92 H VS2 GIA cert H&A for $4733

1.00 G VS1 GIA cert H&A for $6840

0.967 H VS1 AGS cert H&A for $5800

If you are looking for a great cut stone, NiceIce published these specs a while back as a guideline for very ideal cut parameters. It doesn't mean that stones outside of these parameters will not perform well because it is the combination of the proportions that make the stones preformance great or not so great, but this was a good starting point for me when I started looking at stones. There is also a similar set of how AGS defines ideal proportions that are have a little more flex in them.

Total depth between 59 - 61.8%
Table diameter between 55 - 56%
Crown angle between 34.3 - 34.8 degrees
Pavilion angle between 40.6 - 40.9 degrees
Girdle: thin to medium, faceted or medium, faceted
Culet: GIA None or AGS Pointed
Polish: GIA Excellent or AGS Ideal
Symmetry: GIA Excellent or AGS Ideal

these are the proprtions you should stay with:

d=59-62%
t=53-60
girdle=thin-med-sltk
culet=none
polish=vg-ex
sym=vg-ex
flour=none-faint
diameter of a 1.00ct round stone should be around 6.5+/-MM.
comments should not have cr angles greater than 35%, or crown angles less than 30%

stay withing these parameters and you should have a nice stone!

good luck

Yes, Lop....NiceIce posted those proportions a while back, great ones they are! I would definitely recommend those as well. Alj's stone fits in that range and she swears by it's beauty.

Though, I would not toss a stone with 54% table out of bed as long as the other numbers corroborated with it. You may also run across potentially great stones that have 41 pav angle, I would consider those but try to stay 40.9 or under.

Good luck!!

Don't get any stones that have crown angles greater than 35% as these stone lack in diameter ,they will look smaller that the size ,and also stones that have cr angles less than 30% will have glassy look to them and most likely a depth of less than 59%

stick to the numbers and you'll have a nice stone.
