I know it''s not really en vogue anymore, but I kinda want a bride and groom cake topper. I remember being a little girl and standing in the bakery of a grocery store and just being in awe of them. It was the 80''s, so I''m sure the cake topper bride had huge hair and gown with long sleeves and shoulder pads.

Do you think I can avoid the cheese factor by going vintage or antique? I definitely don''t want one of those "novelty" cake toppers with the bride dragging the groom or anything like that.

LOL I don''t think its cheesy at all!!

Haha. I think a vintage one would be awesome. You could do something modern, with a sleek bride wearing a nice dress, but you never know, in 20 years people might look back and make fun of our style like we make fun of 80s style

I would go vintage!

I''m so out of touch that I didn''t know they were out of style.

It''s not cheesy and it would mean something to you. Just find one you like and go for it! After all, it''s your day.

Definitely not cheesy, and I think antique is a great way to go, but there are other options as well. I always thought some of the glass ones were classy as well. For example, this Lenox one is on sale and they have a Caucasian and an African-American couple: Caucasian couple, African-American couple. Only thing is I think the Caucasian couple only comes with the girl as a blonde, but it''s just another direction to go in that''s an option maybe not this figure specifically. I also like this one: Lenox topper and this one. I know what you mean about the novelty ones I am not a fan of those either. Anyway, like everyone else here said not cheesy at all!

It''s not cheesy at all! There are some pretty custom made ones on etsy. I also saw a bird bride and groom one on there that I thought I''d seen on here before. Have you seen the type that you want?

Not at all cheesy! I''d check ebay; you can probably find something cute and classy there.

Thanks guys! I have been to a few weddings recently, and they all have either flowers or an initial as the cake topper, so I guess I thought people just didn''t do the bride and groom anymore.

I found this vintage one:

And I hadn''t even thought of checking etsy. There are some super adorable ones!

I like the Lenox ones too. They are really classy looking.

I guess I have some decisions to make now that I have validation.

Not cheesy at all -- I think it''s sweet! I like the vintage idea. I like Galleygal''s topper. There are also lots of custom cake topper options -- brides or grooms that match the real couple''s hair colors and ethnicity, for example.

Wow. That second Lennox one that SarahLovesJS found is beautiful.

I don''t think it is cheesy at all. I think it is sweet and charming. I really love the one that gallerygal posted.

Have you ever seen the circle of love figurines? They''re a bit different, but I love their symbolism. Here''s a sample of one and a link to more.

I love cake-toppers! D and I are getting personalised ones along with one of Amber and Manolo and we''re all going to sit on top of the cake. I don''t care if it''s cheesy!

Cheesy? Nah. Cute that you want one so badly? Absolutely. I think you should put whatever flips your skirt on the top of your cake, trendy or not. Share with us when you pick the one you''re going to use.

We had a Precious Moments bride and goorm on our cake, then added it to our collection after the wedding.
